Its pretty much year round, I think they have a few pauses here and there.  You can look it up on the web, Im not exactly sure.

Here at the bank I work for, most all of them bank with us.  Since Im not on the customer service end, I cant ask the next Popeye that walks in  :)  ( Uck uck uck uck!)

Weather wise....you dont wanna come here now.  Hit this area around May/June....or September if you want to enjoy the changing colors of the leaves.  

Oh, if you do visit, prepare to drop your "R"  's  Lobster= lobstah  Car = Cah....etc etc

Any of you guys ever been to the maritime  museum in Bath? They have a huge preserved lobster on display there. The thing is about a yard long and a foot wide and weighed 44 lbs. when caught. Each claw was about as big as your head:eek:

They sent me to Halifax at the end of November and I left right as the first big storm came in. Got stranded in Newark NJ for 2 days. SUCKED!


I hope to not have to fly anywere near there tell spring!

Ouch on the pricing..!:eek:

I hated paying more than 6 bucks per pound and that was for the over 10 pounds ones...  4 bucks per pound was about as high as I would go for a 2 pounder....

10 pound lobsters suck.  5 pound lobsters suck.  Only tourists and talkers eat those.  Anyone that loves the taste of lobster wouldn't eat anything that big.  

They're breeders, anyway.  You throw those back.

6 Bucks per pound?, you guys have the guts to call it expensive?

15$ here for the imported fresh, American "brown" lobster.

Swedish caught "black/blue" lobster will go for between 30-100$ per pound.

The tastiest ones are weight around a pound. If they get to big they will taste like "wood". A grown lobster is about 7 years old before he reaches 1 pound of weight. the real  big ones about 50 years old.
 
And if you are going to make stock from the shells, grind them in a meatgrinder and use very hot oil for to "burn" them off. Some brandy or scotch will work miracle for the taste. But be careful if you use a gasstove, you might want to clear your head away when you pour it.

and if you gonna freez em, freez em raw, whith shells still on. But, to freez is making them loose atleast 30% of taste.
cook em alive. Best to "stick" them with a knife into their heads, before. Otherwise, they might drop their claws from the shock.

Patrone, I am assuming you have never been to a lobster season where you can catch more than you can eat?  After Lobster and scrambled eggs, lobster pattie burgers, lobster queso, lobster spagetti, lobster brochette,  and lobster on the shell for 3 or 4 days, it is time to freeze some bugs!  Frozen in the cup, they are hard to tell from fresh, but these are Florida lobsters, not Maine ones.

Really?  ever try a 10 pound lobster?  You can screw up anything if you are stupid enough but mine come out just as tender and tasty as a 2 pounder...

I have.

Like I said, the only people that eat lobsters that size are tourists that don't know any better.

Try learning how to cook and they come out just fine... its not a turkey, you don't roast them for hours.

Larger lobsters are commonly sold in NH and Maine and its to locals mostly. The tourist spots just sell one to two pounders since most tourists are fool enough to believe old wives tales based on ignorance as well as stupid enough to pay 25 bucks for a 1 LB lobster and a corn cob.

Like I said.  Tourists eat large lobsters.  You can't even buy them in Maine.  Maine has a 5" CL limit.  I grew up on lobster boats out of Friendship, ME.

You sure you've eaten lobster?
