Aaagh, somebody do the math and rank them in most successful in kills vs. deaths, e.g.,

D9 1.510
Typhoon IB 1.460
G-10 1.415
La7 1.247
Niki 1.177
Seafire 1.079
Spit V 1.007
51D 0.931
Spit IX 0.897
38L 0.829

That method is just as flawed as tracking usage by kills.  It assumes that all types die at the same rate per sortie.

It assumes that a plane can "die" only once per sortie, while killing more than one per sortie. Every death is a sure sortie, every kill is not. Easy enough to understand?

Typh most likely being used for anti VH duties more than A2A. 190D probably has more kills than deaths because of bomber interception and its propensity for bald-faced cowardly bugging out in a fight.

I'd say it is pretty common A2A, it is the best bore n zoom aircraft.

I started flying Spit a few times lately. DAMN something's messed up with those hispanos. The REASON it has the second highest kills of any aircraft is a single ping by ANY 20mm in ANY location will kill or disable such that the plane crashes/dies quickly thereafter.

It's really BS if ya ask me. But hey, whatcha gonna do? (Except.. maybe... fly only the spit, like people who want easy kills)

Of course that is a big part of why people fly the Spit, but the other part is it is manueverable enough to get the guns on target.

If it was only about the firepower, the A-8 would probably see around as much use as the Typhoon, and more than the Spitfires.

The name of the game is min/max, just like any other MM game.

I don't think anyone could honestly say it isn't easier to get kills in a Spit V than it is to get kills in a similarly early war A/C like the 109E or F, or 202, or .

Easy kills, yes.  Landing much, no.

Of course, with the other pre-'45 aircraft.. you don't get to land either, and it is a wee bit harder to get the kills.
