Gump is good, but better movies include Man for All Seasons, Fargo, The Last Wave, Amadeus, The Night of the Hunter, Jesus Christ Superstar, Husbands and Wives, Pulp Fiction, Breaking Away, and Tell Me a Riddle.

Out of that whole list only Pulp Fiction is in the ballpark, and it's way out in left field. FG may not be the greatest movie ever, but it's in the top 5.

I think The English Patient was better.

This is one of those "the best" discussions that can not really be decided.  Too subjective.

Forrest Gump sucked fried monkey balls.

Citizen Kane blows ANY film made today, away.  I'd put Schindler's List a LONG way ahead of Gump.   Goodfellas is better as well.

FG great.  but i think that it was actually the supporting characters that made the film.  shrimp boats.

shrimp etouffe, shrimp gumbo, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp creole...

shindlers list.  a triumph.  beautiful.  couldnt have been anything BUT black and white. that's what punctuated it.

goodfellas.  classic.

lawrence of arabia.  one of the most beautiful films to date.  not sure that its been beaten yet on the cinematography scale.

actually.  thats not true.  it has met its matches.  but i dont know if its been beaten yet.
