Learned about this stuff while working at a Mosquito & Vector Control  District.

Learned allot of other stuff as well.  Parasites within human host are climbing toward the numbers prevalant previous to world war 2.

If you've got a wife or gf just be sure they don't get pregnant. If they are, get rid of yer cats. I'll take 'em off yer hands. I like cats.:D

When me and the horrible piece of scum also known as my Ex-Wife had our 1st child, we had a cat, and decided to get rid of it, and not risk her catching Toxoplasmosis, which IIRC is know as Cat Scratch Fever.

I had NO idea what to do w/ the cat.  It was possesed by the devil, and if you made it mad, would hunt you.  As you rounded a corner, it would spring at you w/ it's claws flailing, then run, hide, and do it again later.  (stupid cat).  It would curl around your arm, sink in it's claws, get a mouthful of flesh and chew on it while it purred.  (stupid cat)  On time it attacked me as I entered the bedroom.  I caught it in mid pounce, and tossed it onto the pillows stacked up on the bed.  The cat landed, reversed,  and jumped for me screamin bloody murder.  Caught it again, and this time threw it a bit harder into the pillows.  Satanic cat kept launching itself at me, and I kept throwing it harder, and harder into the pillows (should chucked it into the wall) and I finally gave up, and shut the door.  Musta chucked that cat 20 times.(stupid cat)

I finally found the perfect solution on how to get rid of this terrible feline.

I looked in the phone book, and found a meeting place for Al-Anon, which is for the relatives of Alchoholics, and for co-dependant people.

1/2 hour before the meeting started, I left the cat (in a carrier), bag of food, and kitty litter (and box) in the meeting room.  1/2 hour after the meeting I checked, and the evil cat was gone.

Always wondered what happened to it.  On some level I find it hillarious that this cat is somewhere torturing some poor person, and their co-dependent arse is thinking they deserve it.

Cat scatch fever is not this disease.  Cat Scratch Fever happens to people who are allergic or the cat passes some sort of bacteria that happened to be outside.  Some people are more prone to it then others.

I.E. I grew up around cats all my life getting scratched all the time while playing with them.  One friend got scratched by my cat and got minor cat scratch fever.

Hmmmmmm.....

Prior to WWII the number of Americans infected with parasites was pretty high!

Allot of guys that were drafted or enlisted were off the farm etc. and had parasites.

NOTE: does anyone recall the 3 stooges joke about having a tape worm?

The government went on a warn everyone cure everyone possible rampage.  This included the inspection of all meat.  Washing dish's with steam was initiated in part to kill any parasites that might cling to the plates, silverware, pots and pans.  Many of the parasites literaly could glue themselves to things with a material that would only allow sepreation around digestive, cooked food type things.

The parasites were hurting recruitment.  Keeping otherwise competent people from serving their country.

I suggest to any and all. Awareness about parasites and how you can get em is very important.

Your grandparents expierenced this.  For some your parents did.  Why this information was not transmitted to younger generations is ?????

As I stated earlier parasite infection of Americans is on the rise.

Deaths have resulted.  One was a very young girl that got infected with a cat parasite.  This parasite normally lodged itself in the heart.  But for some reason this one went up.  It put itself in the major artery inside her BRAIN.

She started having problems.  They finally did a cat scan and found it.  By this time it was so large there was NOTHING they could do.  It's location was such they could not remove it.  Her parents had to watch her die.

An older woman used to share her food with her dog.  Gave it to the dog on her fork.  Let her dog lick her plate while she ate off it.  Yep she died as a result of a parasite her dog gave her.

Ever seen how they remove a Tape worm?

You get heartworms and your in BIG trouble!

Liver flukes.........

I learned about allot of this stuff from my last employer.  Was required.

I'd also say the lifestyles of a great deal of americans was just a tad more primative back then also
And then, as you pointed out. the government warned about it
OK its on the rise. How does that coincide with the rise in population?
Deaths have occured. Yea and?
Deaths occur for alot of different reasons.
Is it approaching alarge enough number to where its becoming a real problem?

Seems every couple of weeks the media is warning us to worry about one thing or another.
Simple reason is they profit from our fears
If I were to start worrying about everything the media wanted me to worry about I'd either have a nervous breakdown or I'd have to blow my brains out.

Once in the mess on a ship I served on, one of my buddies started to have convulsions.  We thought he was having a heart attack or something and we flopped him on to the table and tried to calm him down.  Then his chest burst open and some sort of parasite came out of his chest and ran off.  The next few days were interesting to say the least.

Woha...Dude, I was born in the mess hall of a ship, and since my host was dead and all these sailors were running around screaming I ran off and over the next several days I was forced to feed on sailors to stay alive and I've always felt really bad about it.

Toxoplasmosis is caused by cat litter by the way. It only exists in the intestines of baby cats and sometimes thier mothers.

So whatever a pregnant woman does, cleaning baby cat litter is not one of them.

The most common way to get toxoplasma is eating undercooked meat. Up to 50% of people have been infected. It only causes problems if your immune system isn’t working (for example AIDS) or if a mother gets infected during certain stages of pregnancy.
