The troop applauding Bud comercial
« on: February 09, 2005, 07:45:21 PM »
Kind of a whatever post....

But whatever.... :D

You know the Budweiser ad that had people in the airport applauding the troops? When I saw it, I just automatically assumed that they just got back from Iraq.

A minute ago I was reading someone else talking about it, and his description had it that they were on their way there.

Alluhvasudden my perspective on the ad shifted. The applause for the troops works either way, but now it just seems more.... creepy. Ominous. The backwards glance the last soldier gave...

Prolly just me....

Anyways, how'd you see it? Just back? Or on the way there?

Yeah, hella ominous.  I mean they have such a huge chance of dying.

C'mon dude it's not like they are going to the Somme or something.

I think he's saying that he'd wonder what the poop is wrong with ya if you were cheering the fact that he was being shipped off to Iraq...you know, if he were.  Also, he's intimating that Subarus & the Raiders suck ass.  That last part was really quite unnecessary and I don't know why he felt the need to go down that road.  But hey, what are ya gonna do...he's a Canuck, eh.

Watch Creepshow Nash, it'll make you feel better.

I want my cake.

Was deer hunting one time and definitely heard  the same sound the yeti made.

Didn't get to finish my post.  Anyhow, a huge swamp rabbit appeared down range.   didn't shoot it.   I was hunting deer, but I have to say that sound made me uneasy.

Nash, I saw that Commerical and assumed the same.  But...  you've brought up an interesting perspective on it.

Applause for a job done, or one they are heading off to do. It doesn't matter, the sentiment is the same I think.

Well, thinking about it before I hit 'Submit Reply' (that don't happen often). It is possibly even a stronger expression if they are on their way out. Congratulations on a safe return home and a job well done is one thing. The depth of the display of respect and support if they are on their way out is hard to express. You don't see many 'going away' parades.

I assumed they were arriving myself. It's nice to think about the situation in a different light.

Somebody volunteers to do a hard, but neccesary job, that will help millions of people have a better life, they deserve some applause.
