Stupid Question #3 and #4
« on: February 11, 2005, 01:50:27 AM »
Okay, so teachers always said "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask..."

Judge for yourselves:

Is there anyway to task two buttons for the same job.  Specifically, can I get the "forward hat" view to be on 2 buttons.  Very important for the snapshots...

-----------------------------------------------

Stupid Question #4:

Go to SETUP --->  CONTROLS ---> JOYSTICK ----> STICK MAP.  Now there are 2 rows of Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4 on the clip board.

What are their functions??????

Would this allow me to have different sets of buttons for different planes?

Here's why:  I'd really like for some planes (American 50 cal planes) for all guns to fire on primary trigger (i.e. fire primary and secondary set with button #1).  Other planes with spinner cannons (109s, Yaks...), I'd like to ping them with primary (button #1) and make a concious decision to switch to a cannon button to finish.

Also makes a big difference in planes like the A20.  If you put primary and secondary on the main trigger, you're dropping bombs if all you wanted was a strafing run.

Thanks in advance,

righty

I have a button mapped to my joystick.
press once and it gives me stick set 2. I have all my up views mapped there.

Press the same button again, it gives me  #3  and all my down views.

Press the same button again takes me back to SS#1.

SS#4 I have on another button. This gives me my multiengine functions. IE I can shut down an engine seperately, I can use the trims elevator and rudder. I use this if I have a damaged engine on a P38 or mossie and want to shut it down  before it seizes. I can then trim out all the yaw.

Thats how I use it.

I use it in a much simpler way which actually is redundant....

I use it to get my up views. I have a button that toggles me between set 1 and set 2.

Why is this redundant? Because I *think* that if I would have that button mapped to just *UP* and used my left, right, back, ect views Id get the diagonal views.

Anyways Im used to this layout so Im happy. ;)

XrightyX,

You have the right idea on the mapping of the guns.  I have one mapped to the main trigger and cannons mapped to the other button on the Joystick.

Depending on what stick you use you can probably have someone send you a .cfg file and you could start there.

The stick mapping has, and always will, be a problem for me.  It takes a bit of trial and error but eventually gets all sorted out.

If you are running a secondary throttle, such as a CH PRO USB, you can use one of those buttons to look up...then when you move your hat you get all the up views for 360 degrees.  When released you go back to the level views (depending on how you set your hat up).

I dont use the views any longer....I switched to the TRACKIR with the Vector expansion and will never ever go back!!!!!  It eliminates the need for up views and such because you just turn your head!

Good Luck with your programming!

The Stickset 1, stickset 2 buttons don't work between different planes.

What does work is head position. In any plane your in, you can

A hold the hat or keypad for the view you want.

B adjust the view with the arrow keys & pageup/pagedown.

C save it with F10

You CAN use stickset one to get you that upforward view you want. But you'd have to do it like TexMurphy or FTJR said.

Basicly set up one button as a toggle to alternate between stick sets.

As far as your up forward view goes, when you push the hat switch forward that should be your default view.
