thats partially my point....

i am an intellignet STRONG headed 32 years old conservative white hetero male. (if you dont think i am strong in my convictions just search ym posts)...

this game is not like cartoons or other games. i think it is slowly by little baby steps making you think differently. almost sublimilly (speeling?)

like i said earlier, i have never thought it was "ok" to do anything i saw on tv, in a movie, in a game, whatever... but for some reason this game in particular made me think, if for just a second, that maybe it would be ok to run this red light, noone is comming the other way, and im in a hurry.

i find it a very odd situation.. similar to thinking you are targeting a car with a lead turn through your windsheild after playing AH all night. AH has been the only other game that made a change in my real life.... bought books on WWII planes, all that.

we have in the past jokingly talked about making a gunsight for your dashboard for fun and all, and thought is was funny.

now along comes a game that is all about breaking laws. all laws not just killing. step by step you get into more visious crimes, and more lawlessness.
I don't know what to put here yet.

i played a very enjoyable catburglur type sim when i was 13, i havent tried to rob anywhere yet, though i do find myself looking for entry points and valuables every time i go into a building, i wouldent actually do it...

well, stupid pointless discussion aside - they're now starting to really crack down on selling M titles to underages. i've been carded more for buying games in the last 4 months or so then ive been carded at the package store. go figure. i saw a kid trying to convince his mom to get GTA;SA at eb a few weeks ago and the sales clerk told her it was way too mature for him.

if you keep the product in the hands of people who know its just a game then its ok by me.

I played a lot of Mortal Kombat when I was a kid.

It had never occured to me to run over a prostitute after sex to get money back until I saw it done on GTA. What's more ironic, the game's creator said how great of an idea that was on The Daily Show.

Heh there was a time when I used to 'check 6' a lot when I was driving.

I looked in the rear view mirror only to realize I was thinking subconciously: Is that friend or enemy?

it is a fun game, don't get me wrong, but MAN i can see how it could corrupt a young mind easily, making life very different for them in the future.

man i sound like an old fogey talking like this LOL.

I listen to the radio tracks  from GTA3 in my car. ;)

no i'm not saying these things are to blame. That would be way too simplistic. there are many many reasons why some kids go off the rails. But they do not help when young people who are damaged, badly parented, sliding downhill fast in terms of lifestyle and education get hold of them and they do get hold of them whether we like it or not.

I merely question the strange minds of the guys who think it cool to simulate crime, abuse of women, etc and package it as a game for entertainment, which unless they are naive or plain stupid they know kids will get hold of.
