Okay, if we can't have exterior viewing for fighters and vehicles, is it possible to devise a spectate or film only mode -- the omnipotent god view?
Aces High is visually exciting and fun and would be even more stunning if it could offer exterior viewing from more than just bombers.
Is it possible to introduce an invisible airplane mode where we can have a god-like view of whole arenas, flying around and zooming in or out for any aspect we want?
Would have a view and scope like an ultimate movie director, except without having any say about the action or participating in it.
Problem would be preventing that capability from becoming a spy or infiltrator mode. Or from becoming any other sort of interference with normal game play.
Performance-wise would be best as some sort of invisible flying saucer, able to get anyplace quickly and hover effortlessly. Or maybe just adapt a 262 to invisible mode (e.g., the way some other flight sims allow invisibile cockpits).
Screen could add a small number in a corner showing number of people presently in spectate/film mode so players would know they might be observed by non-players.
Would be like seeing a new WWII battle, live, whenever you want. Films could be great for training, analysis, and just plain enjoyment.
Mainly, would be gorgeous viewing in omniscient perspective of our favorite WWII aircraft and vehicles.
Exterior viewing is one of the main attractions of most other flight simulations. Surely Aces High could offer some variation of it (beyond bombers) without compromising the interior view immersement demanded by many.
Being technically challenged, I'm guessing the main problem downstream with such an innovation might be too many invisible spectators in a given area sucking up the frame rate like too much cloud or smoke or ground detail.
If that's the case, I'd opt for defering it until computer performance improvements make that a moot point.
If not, I'd sure like to see this added dimension to what already is the best WWII flight sim.
