Proximity kills

Is there a way to adjust the range of kills awarded on proximity? Just because you happen to be 2.5K from some poor guy who is getting ate up by AI ack, or a guy who doesn't pull out of a dive. How does that mean you should get a kill? I realize that the intent of this is to award you a kill if the guy you are fighting decides to auger instead of losing to you in a fight. But I don't think we need to worry about people augering in FSO just to deny you a kill.  that's why I wonder if we could turn the range of proxy kills down to maybe 1.0K or less? Or turn it off completely?

I just don't think that awarding guys kills for being "in the area" is in the spirit of FSO.

There is a setting for it in h2h, but most people adjust it the wrong way.

As a matter of fact we can Sled.  Though I have never told anyone to mess with it, (or not to). I don't think any of the Setup CM's change it.

I "think" it is the MA standard. What do you think would be a reasonable range? I am open suggestions. :)

The setting is maneuverkillrange and I've always left it at 6000 ( max 30000 ). Not sure if that's feet or yards. I suspect feet.

I don't believe we should turn it off.  If you get somebody on your six and 'force' them to stall and crash trying to blow your tail off, you should get credit for the kill.

We could adjust the range, I suppose.  but I'm sure it'd still be possible to fly near a target base and wrack up prox kills when a flight of jabo P38s compress into Mother Terra.

Drone, you make a good point, that I agree with. I would think that the first thing to do would be find out what the setting is, and what is the range it can be adjusted to. Then we could make informed adjustments. I know that the icon ranges that are given in the game are given in Yards (1.5K = 1500 yards) I have tested this myself several times with the drones offline. I would think that the ranges that we might want the proxy kills set to is very short, 1.0K or less. That should be fine for getting credit for making that bandit on our six to fly into the ground.:D I don't know whether the adjustments in the settings are yards or feet, I am guessing feet as well. Because 30000 yards would be one hellofa long way. Maybe we can talk to HTC to find out for sure.

6000 is the normal maximum icon range of 6000 yards, I believe, so I don't see why it couldn't be reduced to say 3000 yards which is the normal maximum icon range in Special Events?  :)
