Jandina IV P-38J, 8thFG 80th FS (near final)

Unless you guys see anything wrong, out of wack, etc.

Even picky stuff like the width of the bottom white stripe on the tail, the rake angle of the boom stripes, should the white stripe in the prop spinner actually be natural metal?   Stuff like that?

I added a olive drab slight hue to the antiglare panels, remove the wingtop color patches, removed one boom stripe.

Actually if you look at this image closely - is it possible JT used his familiar blue tip-red/white striped spinner on Jandina IV?

Just noticed that.

Here's a contemporary J of Jandina IV.  This was Corky Smith's bird.

Note the natural metal prop with the green band at the back and the green front.

This is the only other 80th bird I've seen with that style prop.  Guessing this might be where they got the idea for Jandina IV as there doesn't seem to be photo evidence to suggest anything else.  (edited to note the previous post and the possibility Robbins went with his blue/red/white combo)

Both these guys were big guns in the 80th so I'm thinking it might explain a bit of the freedom with the markings.

So I'd go with natural metal instead of the white unless you want to do the red/blue/white bit.  Thinking that might be tough to do though in two parts.  I think it's safe to use the green natural metal green spinner.

Looks wonderful though  Don't know that I'd change anything else.

Looks good, did you double the size of the upper white stripes only on the tails?
If not add a 2 pixel white stripe directly above the existing one. This should make it 4 pixels wide in total.
Lower white stripe on tails remains unchanged at 2 pixels.

Changed mine after a pic Dan posted definately showed upper white stripe wider than the lower.

OK here's basically the final then.

I've tried putting together a collage of just our two, but couldn't get it to look right.   Was trying to simulate of period color photo of our two birds out on patrol but I'm not good enough yet with that aspect of screenshots and using Photoshop...

Pretty sweet!   looks just like a poster!

Oct, I did not know that!    I thought Jandina was the name of the warrior god or something on the noseart.    There is another 80th FS bird with a similar name Jawinda or something like that...

Sorry its not exactly like the metal model you suggested, Eagler, but after some pretty extensive research by Dan, Kev and I we decided it the metal model probably wasnt' historically correct - no one could find any pics to backup the green wingtips and the 3 boom ID bands.

Too bad, I really liked the wingtips!

Got that from ... http://www.wingsoverhouston.com/woh_bio_robbins.htm

Pretty easily, actually - but you can only use it offline until it is officially approved by HTC and put into the download queue.   That process can take weeks, sometimes months.

Just download the zip file for the skin from AH Skin Department  and unzip it into a new directory in your Program Files/HTC/Aces High/Skins directory (call it p38j1)

Then go into the offline game and you should see it in the skin selection list for the p38j.

When these skins are submitted they will undergo review and once that is done they will be added into the game. Skins are usually added on wednesdays in conjunction with the server reset.

Though atm the skins are disabled. So one cant use any custom skins.

But once they are enabled again and these new ones are added you will once again be able to select skins in the hangar. Its the drop down abouve the plane list, says "default" when standard skin is used.
