Jeff Ethell died piloting the P-38 at Tillamook.  His son used to be a member of the ICI Warbirds community and played in that online flightsim for several years, might still be there actually.  Dont know......

I think you wasted your time posting the link. Appears he cares nothing about the man or the plane.

The avatar has nothing to do with any teenager, it's from the poster for the movie "The Great Escape", he was around 40 at the time. I should have ignored you as well. The fact that you don't understand what was wrong with your statement confirms that. Have a nice day.

All pilots who fly warbirds must be saints.  Well, except for a few A-holes I have met, one P-40 pilot really stands out in my memory.

Just because a person has a million dollar airplane doesnt make him a good person.  Must be judged on an individual basis.

Agree absolutely, Jeff Ethyll's color photo collections of WW2
alone are amazing.

He wasn't the owner, his father was an ace in North Africa
in a 38 so he had a special interest in the aircraft.  Wonder how
people going to talk about you after you're gone.  Obvious you
knew nothing about this particular pilot.

I've had the pleasure to see her fly twice so far. I'm always up for a third!  I live in Shelbyville, KY, so let me know when it's a go and I'll see a few of ya in Middlesboro...

I have no juice to get into this event.  Mr. Epps of Epps Aviation is turning 75 tommorow and there is to be fairly large flyover PDK sometime tommorow.  The info I got was compiled from a waitress, security guard, and an employee from Epps Aviation.

I saw a silver B-17 parked next to the tower and a world war 2 trainer also parked.  According to the guard a p-38, 51, zeke, daunless, and b-17 will be there.  There is also gonna be alot of vets and some celebs from atlanta there too.  Im betting bortz is on the list.

I will be snooping around there tommorow with my photo gear gear rest assured.

A quick update.   i was able to swing by the airport and take some pictures.  The B-17 was taking people up for rides @ 400 per person.  I paid 300 back in 1999 to go up.  Inflation.

The P-38 still has not arrived, but some of the planes from Ptree city were landing but I had to go on a service call so I had to leave.

I do not know how to post pictures but I got some good ones if anyone is interested in posting them let me know.
