system is locking up
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:24:11 PM »
please help!  everytime i try to fly i can only get it to work for a minute or so then my whole system locks up and i have to reboot.  i have tried deleting the programs that are recomended to delete.  i have re-installed the program.  the only thing that i can think that it might be is the resolution or frame rates.  i don't know what setting they are supposed to be at.  it could be a fire wall problem...i just have no ideas and would like some suggestions.  i have 2.1 ghz amd and 512 ram.  thanks for your help.

what main board, os , and drivers are you running ???

id sort of suspect it could be drivers or sound issue.... or it could be anything from bad ram /powersupply/virous ... ect ..

go to start/run   then type in dxdiag  clic on save  then open the file that should be on your desktop  (dxdiag)

Copy and paste  the 1st  1/3 of it here so we can see what your running for drivers ect ... or if your to scared to post it (some players are for some odd reason )  we need to see at least thru the sound hardware/drivers .

you can email the whole thing to support@hitechcreations.com     and Skuzzy will look it over .

Heres what i see thats probely the issue I know alot of guys are having issues with this onboard video . I'm not shure what the combo needs to be for this one . But if you have it working sort of now .. id try it at a lower resolution (AE 800x600) and turn the in game video sliders all the way to the right (down)   just for further troubleshooting

A couple of guys have the fix/setup for this i think and perhaps they'll ring in ..

I am very surprised that the S3 chip would work at all.

I see your running your card resolution at 1280 x 1024.  If this isnt the resolution your running the game at, you may want to get those to match.  Its a long-shot, but some games are funny that way.
Ya, Skuzzy, an S3?  Sheesh, does that even have T&L??
Is your swap file being handled by widows or did you manually set it?  May be running out of swap file if you don't have windows managing it.
Oh, and if you have the ability to "share" video memory with on-board memory, make sure it is set to do that.  If your gonna share, or are presently sharing, memory Id suggest bumping up to 1 gig mem.
Make sure that you are not close to running out of Hard drive space..swap file can't use what isn't left to use.

The S3 cards (and the onboard chipsets - and yes there are new ones) support T&L, and are DX 9.0 compatible.  The newest S3 is comparable to a Radeon 9600 or a Geforce FX 5600, they just arent supported by Aces High, IIRC.

My understanding is the S3 has broken hardware T&L.
