Allied Squads & Players Needed In The Ct
« on: February 16, 2005, 08:42:15 AM »
ALLIED SQUADS AND INDEPENDENT PLAYERS

We need you back flying in the CT. Where did you all go? In the old days the Axis squads were always out numbered by the Allied players.

We now have two full time Luftwaffe squads in the CT,
JG 54 GRUNHERZ & JG 2 RICHTHOFEN so there will always be some good competition for you to fly against.

The CT Staff has also dedicated itself to put up the scenario's you have been asking for and as more maps become available we plan to improve it even more.

We also have the Squad Nights of TUESDAY AND THURSDAY starting at around 9:00 pm EST as well as the Great Missions Truekill organizes for Thursday night.

COME BACK AND FLY THE CT. YOU WON'T BE SORRY.

I am planning on making a comeback into AH. Everything has settled down finally and I got the raise I was expecting.

So VF-17...well at least one of us will be back in the CT and MA for flights.

It’s simple really; I know that everyone does the head on attack thing. It is really hard to pass up an easy shot when you know that you’re really not going to die. You just have to go get a new plane.

Now I’m not making an ethical point here, even I do it some times, we all do it, we just don’t like to talk about it. But after forming up, take off and all the other clime out and such, on the first pass, someone HO’s and you have oil all over your aircraft or a pilot wound. Turn around and land at the nearest field. Does anyone here really think that’s fun?

As it should be, the aircraft are limited to the era or close to the dates in history. This I think is a must for the CT. This is makes the CT pilots the best in this game. You have to learn the aircraft you pick, not just hop in one and hope to be good. It takes time, practice and teamwork. Aircraft types and how well they perform are an historical fact. Some are better than others just as some pilots are better than others. I think the game follows as close as possible to that belief.

So here it is. Why should we limit myself to a small set of aircraft, spend time learning to fly them, just to he HO’ed just about every fight? I can go to the MA fly everything, find and pick the fights I want (and I have had some great ones), expect to be HO’ed at every turn and still have a blast.

OK, HO’ed on every flight in the CT, I don’t think so, but one of the last 2 times in the CT 50% of my flights were ended by getting HO’ed. The last flight we did as a squad in the CT was an A20 raid on an axes field. We were on the deck and got stomped, AS IT SHOULD BE, I got shot down 5 times. Never once by an HO. We were trying to be sneaky and got our pepe whacked by JG54. IT WAS FUN, we were all laughing so hard on the squad channel I just gave up trying to talk. Those lufter waffle guys followed know tactics, flew aggressively and sent us packing.

So there you have it. Was Hoing used in WWII, yes do I care, NO. It ruins my game in the CT. The best pilots fly there, they all have shot me down. Can I blame the entire CT for that? NO! But what is point of all the activity there if it is a mini MA with just a few really nice aircraft? I can go to the BIG MA and have all the aircraft.

Damn I miss the squad nights in the CT.

Do I expect all to follow my twisted rules of engagement, no. Maybe there could be a sector set aside as the HO sector. 12,8 through 12-10 are for wackos, enter at your own risk.

Please remember in your responses to this letter, be kind to dumb animals.

Head ons not only happened, but they were tought as the prefered method of attack against the Japanese (that and high angle deflection shots) by the USN, dont know about the USAAF. VF-17's Dan Cunningham got 3 kills in the matter of about 1 minute from 3 consecutive HO's.

Having said that, I think HO's in AH are a huge mistake as it puts you at a disadvantage if you DONT win the HO. The guy going for the lead turn at the merge instead of the HO will kill you very quickly if you go for the HO a dont win.

Having said THAT...I very rarely go for the HO against a fighter, and the ONLY time I have ever been hit in a HO is when I was not trying to avoid it, but rather going for it myself. Against buffs HO's are the only way I attack them.

The thing about AH or any other flight sim is this. Even the dumbest AH or WB or IL-2 or whatever game player; has hundreds if not thousands of hours over what the real life pilots had as far as training. Do we literally die from our mistakes? Short answer is no we don't and therefore we truly don't learn from them. That is just to put it into perspective.

Of course real life WW2 pilot training was a little more intense than what we get here just to put it into perspective. It also brings up the point that many of us virtual plane jockeys would be washed out of the program long before we would even have a chance to show we could fly the plane or even get into a combat situation.

The Head On attack is a valid attack for many reasons but it is not the preferred method for many of us in this game. It is the method of choice for the players I call slackers and we all fall into that mode occasionally. I don't like it but I do it from time to time.

HO's are something I try to avoid, but when someone points their nose at mine and gives me a shot, I'll take it. HO's are easy to avoid if you don't give the guy the opportunity. There are some in the CT who rely on it on almost every engagement. You're not going to change that. If you deny them the head on, you force them to fight. There are only 2 certainties on this matter.

1) It takes 2 to be in a HO situation.
2) The only one who complains about a HO is the one who loses it.:D

One of the reasons I left AH was the lack of players in the CT.
I absolutely hated the MA so it was easy to leave . Now that Pacific Fighters has been out , Ive been flying there mostly and when not flying , playing a Grunt in CoD . I'm waitin too see what HT does with ToD , I'd like to come back when that gets rolling.
and hookup with an Allied Sqd this time around , I get enuff Axis bird time in IL2 / PF .

Hi bolt45! long time no see!

My favorite thing about Ho`s is this.........110G2.For some reason ,you take one up and it is like a big flame for moths.Everybody(well almost everybody)tries to HO a 110G2.And then they have the nerve to whine about it!
I guess my 2 cents worth is this........If you don`t like getting HO`d,then DON`T HO.It takes 2 to tango and it also takes 2 to HO.The tactic of HO BTW is also used a great deal in the MA as well.To leave CT for the MA because "there is too much HO`ing going on"is just a plain old weak excuse.Lately I have not been in CT alot .Not because of the HO bandits. In fact you might say I am a HO bandit. I don`t fly CT much anymore because I just don`t find it as fun as it was.The numbers are down and plane sets are not any good.In fact alot of flight models have been screwed big time by HTC.

Hey guys, remember the good old days in AH1?Back then CT had some good fights almost every night! In many ways AH2 is good,But they do not out number the bad things that AH2 has.

Phaser11 I would love to see you back in the CT with your squadies. In fact the CT needs you.But please do not criticise the whole CT community based on a few minor complaints. The CT is like a small town where everybody knows everybody. After a while they all get fed up with each other and then they start to make decisions that may not always be right.I for 1 feel the CT is dying right now and we as a comunity have the power to give it back its life force.
