Since I got pedals, I put my stick offset to the right on the pullout keyboard tray.  My throttle sits next to my chair on part of a cheap o plastic shelf unit, with the foam block the throttle came in directly under it.  Before the pedals, I used to have my stock on my lap on the foam it came in.

Think about it ... natural position for hands is at sides or straight out in front, but always at the sides, not center of body.

Joystick in center is not the most natural position (smirks aside).  When used to have big joysticks (more smirks), needed to be in center to have enough room for complete movement.

F-16 has one of the most advanced cockpits, designed for 9gs, and its controls are on the sides for least stress, joystick on the right side.  So I recall, anyway, long time since I've seen one.

I mounted 6x24x3/4" extensions one to each side of my keyboard slide out tray. They each extrude about 14" past the end of the tray towards my waist at the proper width for my hands to naturally grasp the throttel and joystick of my X45. The keyboard sits forward and in the middel of them for easy reach. My 20" monitor is at a relaxed viewing highth forward of my keyboard tray. Kind of like the remote pilot setup for the Raptors. My TrackIR camera is mounted on an arm extending towards my head from the top of my monitor to locate it about 14-20" form my track hat.

By the way if anyone is having ergonomic issues using the rudder paddel on the X45 throttel try this. Get 2 self sticking rubber pads or feet about 1/2x1/2x1/2". Stick one to each end of the paddel. It will allow you to touch them easier and require less finger motion to swing your rudder through it's complete range of motion. Saitek is confused and thinks our middel fingers should be about 8" long.:)

eeeeurgh!!

rudder done with fingers sounds all wrong.

i hate this twisty stick aswell, i'm saving pennies for a CH setup or at least some pedals.

Tried pedals, got rid of them; love Logitech extreme 3dpro twisty stick.  But ... many others seem to prefer pedals.  Need to ask then whether heel/toe or sliding pedals.

Pedals seem to me sorta like automobile dimmer switches on the floor.  Control evolution seems to be toward meshing the most controls in one hand, or maybe two.

X45 to right, keyboard center, throttle L, and FINGER DRIVEN RUDDER (rocker switch) on throttle.

Take that, mechanic.:lol  (Course, my flight generally stinks and my video card's down this month...so I'm not sure the jibe is worth anything)

I have the Complete Book of WWII Combat Aircraft lying on my lap with my X45 stick on top of it (thats how i get all those tidbits about aircraft so fast on channel 200 hehehe). I have a small stand to the right of my chair that the X45 throttle sits on.

Oh, and for Christmas, my GF bought me a Massage computer desk chair :D

So when you catch a spray of .303s you turn on the chair vibrator?  Very cool.

I get a lot of vibes from 5.1 surround sound on a wooden floor.

anyone putting an extension on their joystick so they can put it on floor boards like a real one is? I have seen pictures but havent tried it yet, seems like it would make your flying smoother, since we all fly like we have our hand on the floor where joystick is mounted, so its alot more jumpy.
