My Dad was a Bob Wills fanatic. I was force fed Western Swing from an early age. It was either learn to embrace it or go mad. I chose the former.

Some of my fondest coming of age memories involve rural Texas honky tonks, sawdust floors, drunken older women and Bob Wills music.

I was standing about 3 feet away from the photographer when this pic was taken at the first Bob Wills Days Festival in 1973.

It's the last weekend in April at his hometown Turkey, Texas. Population usually goes from 400 to 20,000. It's a blast. Concerts, parades, 4 x 4 races, giant campground party. Again, if a fella can't get laid at Bob Wills Days...
