You have to pick the lock at the end using the 'use' key, whatever you bound that to. Great game, by the way. Been playing off and on for about 2 years or so.

i got a patch for v2.3 now

i tried picking the lock till i was blue in the face

I haven't been able to log on to the game for about a month or so.

Don't know if it's a punkbuster problem or what, the server boots me.

Punkbuster is a total joke as AAO is filled with hackers. They shoot through walls etc. Only thing PB does is corrupt itself and get me booted from the servers unless I manually update it with 3-4 month frequency.

Maybe the patch would fix the probs but since the hacking got so open that they wear colored game id's, can't be votekicked or PB kicked and 1-shot sniper you through the walls, the game lost interest immediately.

Yes, except those japanese are tough... takes half a clip to get them down if you don't shoot them in the head.

How long has it been since you played Siaf?

Last time I played (a couple months ago) PB was working fine. Sure, PB cant catch everyone, but it does keep the cheaters to a minimum.

AAO is totally free - nobody needs to buy anything. Only thing you need is download the installation package and play.

Punkbuster doesn't catch anything but the oldest and lamest hacks elfie. Last time I played (about 2 months ago) the servers were full with hackers. They had colored game id's, changed id's during the game, shot people with 1 shot kills through walls etc.

All this on punkbuster OFFICIAL aao server. The hackers just gloated and laughed when people tried to boot them from the game. Only way to stop them was to teamkill the player.

After that happened I quit playing mostly. I suspected hacking even earlier but this was the final nail in the coffin.

I played last night and didnt see any of that. I have seen times when the hackers were more prevalent than at other times. Once Punkbuster catches up the hackers seem to go away. PB is constantly being updated. Its my understanding that the folks at PB surf the websites that host the hack programs and write updates to PB as soon as they find new hacks. This does leave a gap in the PB coverage, but no system to prevent hacks is perfect.

I got sniped one time on the Bridge Crossing map while INSIDE the tunnel in the defense tower. I emptied my magazine into a guys face one time while he stood there looking at me, then while I was reloading he shot me in the head.

While I agree that hacks do in fact exist at any given time in AAO, I also feel that hacks are present in EVERY online game.
