Is armored glass really modeled? I assumed not, for instance in the IL2 - "K-4 armor glass was used in the cockpit, with thicknesses from 55 to 65 millimeters (2.2 to 2.6 inches)"

Yet I still get pilot wounds from Panzer Pintle Guns (7.9 mm bullet) Apparently fellas the MG34 goes through 2.2 mm of ballistic glass "like buttah"

In the times I have flown the 38G, the forward canopy glass is the ONLY part of the plane that survives

You are forgetting something sullie.

On the original 38s through the J-5 the windscreen was rounded with the armor glass a seperate internal piece.  This was done on the Jug, P39 etc.

With the J-10 onward the armor glass was part of the windscreen, which is why the 38J and L we have look different looking forward then the G.

Same thickness as the G, just integral to the windscreen itself.

So the question should be, does the armor glass in the P38 help prevent pilots wounds :)

Edited to add image showing the cockpit armor plate and glass installations on the early and late 38s.  Note both the internal and external armor glass is designated bullet proof

are the bulletholes modeled that accurately as to where they show?
or is it more of a randomly decided placement when you're hit near the cockpit?
i only ask because it seems like i get some bulletholes in weird places from odd angles at times...could just be me though.

I think we'll never be sure unless HTC implements different visuals concerning 'bullet hit' and 'bullet penetrated'.

Or is it already this way? Sometimes I'd see a bullet hit on the windshield that doesn't look like a penetration but just a crack ... but I'm assuming that's only cosmetic.
