I think the Germans have the AH tank fight pretty covered. would really like to see Sherman 76mm or M3A3/5 with I think it's 75mm and 35mm, with gunner being able to use 1. would definately make things a little more interesting. with the good speed of the shermans, could bring plenty of them to play like in the good ol days. anybody else like this idea?

It's a good idea Red, but the Sherman already is on everyones tank list.

IMO that the Sherman will definately be added, it's a logical expanse of the tanksetup.

The Sherman may be added for TOD, but would see next to zero use in the MA. It was known as the "Ronson" by German tankers because it lights up first time, every time.

Seriously, the Sherman had inadequate armor and weapons. It was gasoline powered, making it highly explosive. It has a very high profile caused from trying to make it short and narrow.

It's main advantage was reliabilty and huge numbers, both of which are not going to help it in AHII MA. Any of our current tanks would eat it for lunch at any range.

IMHO, a waste of precious HTC resources to model it when so many other planes or GVs should be added.

I would use it, especially if they make it good for perkies when you do get to kill somebody in it. what about the M3A5 Grant? it may be a rolling coffin but it would be fun to take with a main 75mm gun and a 37mm. I mean, I usually die from one shot in a tank anyway, I just want a little more to choose from. Germans aren't the only ones that had tanks in ww2, but looking around here it seems like it.

i agree shermans would probly complete the tank loadout.  But, it would indeed get slaughtered.  The Jeb Stuart might have some base attack perks though. What this game really needs is a good tank destroyer or mobile artillery. The germans hold the market on all tread warfare during WW2. Now if the US M26 was incorporated it might have a chance. I would like to see the Sturmtiger implemented. It had indirect fire by use of a 380 cm mortar. That could rain down pretty nasty on a field. I personally don't understand why indirect fire (besides warships) Haven't been brought in yet since it was a major component of that war.

would like to see some kind of artillery, M40 would be nice. we definately need something that can kill a tiger better than a panzer can. there are such vehicles. personally I think more countries armor should be modeled in ah. makes sense to look at the vehicles that were produced in the highest numbers, saw the most combat, and actually made a difference.

I think the modern opinion is that the Sherman's flamability was primarily due to the ammunition propellant igniting, not the fuel.  Some later variants of the Sherman dealt with this by either armoring the ammo storage bins, or by filling them with water.  This is the variant which AH could introduce.

Also, if the Sherman introduced was the Sherman Firefly (17 pdr, possibly with APDS), the vehicle might be adequately competitive.    This gun had way better penetration than the 88L56 on the Tiger I.

TDeacon,

I don't think the Sherman 'Firefly' "might be adequately competitive", I think it would need to be lightly perked.

Don't think they would perk it, as the armor is basically the same as the regular Sherman (various models) it was converted from.  So you have for the Firefly vs. the Tiger:

Firefly gun has better penetration.
Firefly mobility is similar (worse over soft ground).
Firefly armor is worse.

BTW, Mosq, my reference materials indicate that the height of a Sherman is about the same as that of a Tiger I (9 1/2 feet).  The Tiger looks lower only because it is much wider.

The sherman was no match for the tiger then ,

and it will be no match(if made) for it now.

If they  did incorporate it into this game, they would prolly give you perks for takin it out in the first place.

The hieght of the sherman is 2.99 meters.

I like to see the Sherman with a optional weapon bay. Like the rocket pods mounted on top of the sherman. That be very cool. And I would like to see a british tank like the churchhill.

Sherman would be one of the most popular addons in the game. red's right, in WW2 the Germans were'nt the only ones that had tanks, but in AHII it seems like it, though they are making more things. The Sherman was very useful due to high numbers they produced, the amount that were together in battle that out numbered the german tanks by like 20 to 8. Also, the sherman was very maneuverable and was fast. Thus getting away from the enemy fairly quick, and being able to go places the german tanks couldnt. So I really hope you change your mind on saying the sherman would render "useless" in AH.
