Only have problems when someone changes the CV course as I'm on approach. Of course I usually say, "Who's the idiot controlling the CV?" Funny...... I've never got an answer to that question. :lol

Carrier landings are fun...As far as that bug goes? Never had that happen to me yet.

That Video was something. MAN in real life I can see how I may need and extra pair of Boxers after every landing:lol

You get slingshot back when you dont have breaks on or when you loose your wheels and use hook. if you land without gear dont use hook... at least its how i understand it.

Can land a lanc fine on the carrier, without damage.

Most carrier planes come to a stop eaven without hook.. if in doubt loop it or crash into the tower.

Never had the 'backward flip' problem. I don't catch the first wire though. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen to those that do.

(Batfink/mechanic: I always land 234's on cvs - fun and easy peasey. 262's are little more difficult, but haven't lost one yet.  :)  Next time you see me online, give me a yell and you can ride along in training area. I'll explain how to bring that jet home first time, everytime. I guess that goes for anyone else interested in the Rolex CARQUAL Course.

I've done the CV catapault thing a couple times.  Now I just avoid the first and last wire.  Simple right?

Check your throttle calibration. If its at 1% and the hook is down you'll go off the back. Oddly enough this will happen even if you started just sittin on the deck w/o landing and winding up all that tension in the cable. Try upping on the CV, lowering hook and throttling to 1%, easiest way to fly backwords.

Yeah, something a lot of people don't realize about CV's is that when you come to a complete halt on the deck, your wheels get chocked and you won't move.  As soon as you engage the tiniest bit of throttle, the chocks are removed and you will roll backwards if you aren't applying enough power to compensate for the CV's forward motion.  (It's weird, but that's how it is in the game.)

It's definately a well known bug.  I've done it quite a few times before I found a thread on it about a year ago.  I just hammer the throttle the second I touch, hit brakes, release hook, and chop throttles off.  That's always worked.

It'll catch ya if your not paying attention.  Hadn't flown off the cv in ages and did the catapult  one night after landing with 6 kills.  I was a bit frustrated to say the least and mostly because my dumb arse forgot about that bug.

Two things will cause you to slingshot off deck, If you catch a wire while holding brake or if your throttle is open even slightly w(often caused by spiking throttle pot or bad calibration). Which wire you catch has absolutly nothing to do with it.

Zmeg that's odd considering I use to do just what you have stated and would still get launched. That was without using brakes, flaps full down, throttle chopped at 3 to 5 feet from the deck and basically stalling the plane to the deck.  I check my calibrations constantly and I have absolutely no spiking in my CH setup.  You shouldn't get launched off the deck in that manner at all.
