Basic camo with multiple markings idea

I'm curious if this is even possbile.  It may not be but I figured I'd ask anyway.  IL2 has the ability to use one basic camo scheme and adjust the basic markings based on a particular aircraft.

Lets just use the 20th FG and there mustangs as an example.  The majority of their airframes had identical paint schemes.  The only things that may have changed would be the tail number, tail code, fuselage code, and maybe the nose art.

If we had the ability to make one basic paint scheme and then add the appropriate items listed above you could get more aircraft for the price of one.  There are alot of groups that flew the exact same paint scheme with only minor differences between each.  If there were a drop down box that would allow you to select the Group/Fighter Squadron and then another that would allow you to pick a particular aircraft you could have multiple different planes available at a small cost.

You'd have to download the basic camo scheme and then for every aircraft you wanted from a particular group you could download their individual info pack that would be extremely small.  If a person didn't have the individual packs then the plane would only show the basic paint scheme on your FE.

This could be a good thing for the TOD too.  It would add one more thing to the immersion factor.  Especially if your flying next to an aircraft that is like yours but just slightly different.  Same could go for the bombers too.

Only problem is see is memory usage.
Thats the main reason 'most' new skins now consist of only 1 file and not 2 like the old models.
In order to stay within their memory usage limits this was a required change.
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Asus M3N-HT mobo
2 x 2Gb Corsair 1066 DDR2 memory

I'd very much love to get into TOD and look out and see the squadron I'm with flying planes with individual code letters and potentially nose art.

I want to be sucked into the game that way.  I want it to fit with what I imagine it was like and that would be part of it.

The Skins done by the folks here add to that immensely already whether it be nopoop and Nomde's 56th Jug collection that woud allow for a D-11, D25 and D40 to up together in 56th skins to the soon to be used 80th Headhunter P38G J and L done by oboe and kev.

Can't wait
