I've been messing around a bit with the Editor for a couple of days now......but first I should say to HiTech and his Team :aok :aok for the AH2 game and Editor ( more stuff for the map builders OH YA!!!).

I know I'm behind schedule with the new editor but most of it is the same as the original one for Aces High (1).

Some things I've notice:

With Roads, Rivers and Rails are

1) You can travel on the Rivers with PT Boats ( Not LV's though )

2) You can come from Water Tiles and get onto the River and Vice-Versa (leave a River to goto a Water Tile).....meaning you could launch your PT Boat from an CVTG and drive to the shore where the River starts/exits and keep on going.

3) PT Boats don't like going under Bridges, you will destroy your engines.
P.S their is a way around this though.  Shut off engine just as you pass under it then restart when you past by.

4) Vehicles can't cross a River unless it is done on a Bridge.  This makes for good Ground Barriers  May help keep attacking ground forces to travel the Roads or Rails to attack Cities, Towns Etc.

5) PT Boats don't like Rivers that are on Forest Tiles.  At the moment you can't pass on them.

6) PT Boats won't pass thru the natural underground tunnel of the Grass Tile, neither will Planes.

7) Rivers and Rails get screwed up when placed on Rock Tiles, except when they make a 90* turn.

8) You can have Road, River and Rail on a same 1 Mile Square Grid Square.

9) Rivers need to be at sea level or your PT Boat starts to act like a Submarine :lol


Here is a complete list of shapes in the Shpfilter.  If you copy this list and paste it into your shpfilter file then nothing will show up when in the editor.
Just place some Character like / ,@ or something in front to make item appear.  
Example for 109E4 make it /109E4 and then it will show up in the editor.

yeah, you can join someone pretty much anytime, i dunno about a chute though

ive noticed you cant go from water tile to river because the river stops at the edge of the land tile and the way the shore lines are you cant get the boat over that

question:
Can you make an object that a PT boat can go on like the river? something like a lake or pond

You CAN go from a water tile to river, you just need to do a little change to the plb000X_a.bmp file.

Here is the change for the GrassyRock file...............


I just did it in one spot for testing.

Here's the file

Zip has the original plb0002.bmp file that I didn't change and has the plb0002_a.bmp that I did change.

Put both of these in your texsrc folder

You'll need to delete the cache folder to see the changes.

P.S  Just thought..............if you made the plb0002_a.bmp all Black you'll have no beach and the water tile will go right to the grassyrock tile.

You click on the Save Texture button while in the Terrain Mode of the Editor, the files get saved into your "savedtex" folder.

i know to do save texture but i didnt see what to save. on the object list should i just save the terr# and it will save all of that?

There are 2 seperate "Save Textures" junctions in the Terrain Editor which have nothing to do with each other.

The Save Textures button in the Terrain mode only saves Tile Textures

while

the Save Textures button in the Objects mode only saves Skin Textures.

And by doing that you'd be back to needing a shore tile. Wouldn't you?

Otherwise you'd wind up with straight line shores.

I only meant that step as a quick example, to show that you can go from a water tile to a river with a PT Boat :rofl
