That sounds wonderful. I could combine that with a visit to some friends I have in Frankfurt.

Let me know when you intend on coming over Beetle! :)  I should be able to put you up when I get the spare bedroom furnished (should be end of January/early February).  Alternatively I can get a discounted hotel room in the Holiday Inn.

Most cars that could go faster than 150 by hp are limited to 150 mph with very rare exceptions (e.g. porsche or modified versions of other brands). Are you sure you were doing 120-140 mph? If you rented a german one the speedo shows km/h, and your speed would have been around 90 mph. which is close to the recommended speed - something for grannies. What you have seen as going really fast would have showed 200-250 on a km/h speedo, e.g. twice as your speed ;)

Come on ccvi, I'm not that stupid.  I was driving my own car - a Golf VR6, whose official top speed was 139mph. I once checked its speedo using GPS, and at 70mph it was accurate to within the thickness of the needle.

I think 25 years driving experience, I would know the difference between 90mph and 140mph.

Hehe autobahns.
In my German days, my usual ride was an old Patrol Jeep with totally max 70 mph, and to add insult to injury, I was usually tossing around with a horse trailer. Sometimes beef cattle on board.
One fine day I got a reasonably new little Golf to play with. I got it to 110 mph, still those bloody Ferrari's kept whooshing by as if I was standing still!
Anyway, Replicant, Munchen is an extremely nice town,I really loved it there.
Be sure not to miss Deutches Museum as mentioned somewhere before, it's really great, and the aviation section is a must-do.
Also, since the Zeppelin stuff is in Friedrichshafen, well if it's the one at Bodensee, that is a most wonderful place. Beautiful landscape.
If you are looking for some old remnants of WW2, try this:

Best of luck
Angus

P.S. You get used to the Wessbier after a while, and I wholeheartedly recommend German Rindersalami to go with it.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Hello again

Anyone else in the Münich area?  Have spoken to a few people and how does a small get-together sound in, say, a couple of weeks time?
