Happens to us all.  Last night during the whole Biscuit reset debacle, I was working the Nits over at F8.  By the time I rtb'd I think I got 8 and at least one assist.  (No vulches either!  Although I did have the advantage most of those kills.)  The night before I got killed about three times and got maybe four kills.  I was doing STUPID things like taking the odd HO and getting kilt.  Add to that at least 3 assists in one sortie... flying the F4U-1C!  Ya REALLY gotta suck to get assists in this thing.

You get hot, and you get cold.  The main trick is to not worry about your score too much.  When you seem to be having trouble, the best thing to do is wing up with somebody new, or try a new plane.  Try buffing or running a gooney.  I find when I get in a slump I fly different planes for a couple of nights and it's a refreshing change.  Normally when I go back to my Hawg, I fly much better and kick some ass.

Hehe, when I'm dying a bunch, I tend to take the plane that was killing me and go nuts.  I'll take off from vulched fields, furball on the deck, whatever.  Just chuck the discipline, have some fun ,and don't worry about dyin' allot.  After I've gotten that out of my system I go back to my regular plane and flying style and it's all "fresh" again.

Now I just need a real Zeke for my little TnB excursions and I'll be all set.

Don't worry, its quite common.

In fact, I am on a really bad "streak" myself right now.

I have died more in the past 5 days or so, than I have in the entire rest of the tour. And the worst part is that at least one third of them have been "extremely stupid" deaths. Like not paying attention on a vulch or strafing run and hitting the turf. Or typing while taking off in a F4U and having it going into its imitation of a top.

Went from the top 25 in K/D ratio, with a 3.5 K/D, down to ..... hell I don't know, really bad

Oh well, its just a game, and we play for fun anyways

Well, I think I usualy am in the TOP 10 of the "Stupidity Awward winners" but yesterday I was surely Nr one...

Used Mino's "fast moving blur tactic" twice...meaning Dropping on a Con...without wings
Went for "lead pursuit" 99% of the time...
Stubbornly pursuing a con while I had 2 Pony's in my High 6....
Stalling behind CaveJ at 30K in his six, at aprox D10.....
Ran out of fuel while Defensive with 2 109's....Low, AND slow...

Can you think of worse ? I do : Smashed in our Tower at F1 following a Vulcher, while being compressed at 45Okts+.... LOL !

I recently got a Decent K/D ratio (2 kills per sortie, I know it's nothing compared to most of you, but it's better than a 1/5 as i used to)
Well, yesterday Summs it up : 15 Sorties and 2 Kills (Both were CaveJ though   ) . My title says it all : Bishop's finest "FLYING BRICK"

No worry though, i'll be back

Flying Brick? Or flying target drone?

Seriously, next tour of duty do this. Set yourself two hard and fast rules.

1.)Never, ever take off from a base that has enemy within dot visual range (let alone overhead vulching).

2.)Make sure to always grab at least 20k before engaging the enemy.

Do this two simple things religiously, and you will be amazed at how much better you get.

Yeah, but that's not always the most FUN thing to do.

Take a break and do silly stuff sometimes just for laughs.  Just don't worry about your score too much. <G>

Oh Really??

Lets see how much better you get taking off from a field you know you have high dots around and work on your evasives as they dive on your six.    Talk about getting better quick!  Nothing more satisfying that turning the tables on a compressed 109 and keeling him when he finally regains control.

Tsk Tsk Tsk Lephturn

I said 1 tour. Not the rest of his life    The whole reason is too prove the worth of positional advantages, and the insanity of trying to defend under a vulch.

Now Dingy, who is the good pilot? The one with "really cool evasives" when a bandit gets on his six, or the one who never gets into a situation with a bandit on his six at all.

Seriously I understand both of your points   But if your training an inexperienced pilot, giving him a "set of rules" and making him fly by them for a period of time, will illustrate to him the value of those rules. ( I had been told these rules for years, but didnt' truely understand their worth until a trainer friend of mine made me follow them for a couple of months )

Once he is a real killer then he can try out "fun stuff" and have the perspective to understand how to do it correctly.
