OK....in my past I was an electronics technician....I worked on ATC RADAR.
For that reason alone I should probably get my arse kicked for this post.
I pulled off the heatsink (the fan is attached to it) and removed the copper shim.
Un bolted the fan and viaola! A cat couldnt have made a bigger hair/dust ball. I broke out the PC clean (lemon scented) and used half the can on just the heat sink and fan.
Than I soaked the shim in viniger to remove the crud that had built up on the top side.
I wiped down the CUP and heat sink to remove all the old thermal paste.
added a drop.
Reinstalled the CPU/Fan
Blew out the whole case and powersupply and booted.
During game play it never gets above 45C now
I should have done this first thing but I guess I'm losing all my troubleshooting skills as of late.
