newbie questions

1) what exactly does the beacon light represent?  the outer boundaries of airfields, or is there more to it in AH?

2) is there a way to change the default size of the clipboard?  i'd love to make it bigger and leave it that way for good.

thanks!

"Beacon" is one instrument you'd never ever want to see working. If any lights are on, it means there are problems with your net status.

There is a teeny tiny "+" "-" sign on the right bottom corner of the clipboard. Hmm.. I wonder what that would mean  ;)

I believe his question was "is there a way to change the default size for the clipboard" not "is there a way to make the clipboard bigger" =)

in reply to the real question:
If you right-click on the +/- sign it will zoom the map in, and this level of zoom will saved (until you relog i think)

If you left click on the +/- sign, it changes the size of the clipboard itself.  If you are shrinking the clipboard, it will retain the clipboard size.  If you are enlarging it, it will not retain the size if the clipboard boundaries go off the screen.

have fun,
Kraquen

I thought the beacon was a field locator?  I get it quite frequently.  This means my net status is bad?  How do I check that?

Thanks for the help.

You can check your netstat from in the game by opening your clipboard, clicking on setup, then click netstat. You want both lines to be flat. If you have a bunch of spikes or trash on the graphs, you can just try relogging into the same server or use the alternate route and see if it clears it up.

As taken from the cockpit insturment diagram on the HTC site I revamped some months ago.
 www.hitechcreations.com/cpinst2.html

Beacon:
--Grayed out: Nothing wrong
--Green: Some variance with your connection exists
--Yellow: You have connection problems
--Red: Your connection is being lost

By clicking on the + and - signs you can enlarge the clipboard. Use Insert and Delete to zoom in or out of the map.

In order to retain the size of the clipboard you have chosen make sure all edges are on the screen.

Beacon
Okay, mine flashes green sometimes.  When I look at my net stat, I get delay up to about .3 seconds in regular little spikes.  So, now I am even more anxious to get DSL.  Will that help?

Thank you, kraquen & everyone.

Not too happy to hear my beacon light means my connection sucks, but what can I expect from dial-up, huh?  hehehe

Thanks again.  More questions will follow; for sure.

ITS ALL LIES

The beacon flashes green when sheep are directly below you.

When it flashes red,it means theres a particulally attractive one that needs a good seeing to.
