I've seen some people discuss the effectiveness of placing guards inside the maproom.
Send some bailed-pilots over the town, make them hide in the maproom, and blast the drunks one by one as they make their way in. I figure a single guy can full stop about two goon drops, if the enemies can't discover him.
Actually you need to stand on top of the map room. I stood in a map room and waited... we lost the base and I never saw 1 troop. The M3 released them from behind and they didn't walk around to the door to get in, I guess they melted in from behind.
If you've ever played Battlefield Nams WWI mod, or BF1942.. you know how frustratingly great it is to have effective fighting ability on the ground.
Finding those A-hole snipers around the base picking you off as you wait to fly, or upping and killing them.
BF Nam espically.. it's great fun loading guys into a C47 (well a Spooky hybred) and jumping out over to capture a base.
This game would be perfect for that element, goons loaded with actual players waiting to jump (al la Americas Army), once on the gound they advance to clear and secure the map room.
Opposing teams could of course post guards / defenders.
Having a .45 is just a tease after playing these other games
