Enable periscope for Ar-234?
« on: March 07, 2005, 09:39:03 AM »
I recall I've heard that the thing on top of the ar-234's cockpit is a periscope which they use to aim the rear-firing guns.

How about a button to make this one usable?

Use the external view!

...but I agree, that would be pretty cool to have.

Always wondered how they knew what to aim at IRL. Since irl they couldn't do the external view.

This has been discussed many times before. Periscopes and rear view mirrors are tough to implement with the current engine and would require too much time that they would rather spend on other needed things (which i agree on)

Why would it be so difficult to implement?  Hitting the bomb aiming key sends you to a different view, why not use the same overlay and just point the view backwards?  Disable the automatic autopilot activation to give the pilot full control and it's all done...

Well we could use the external view, the only problem is that your own plane blocks the view...
