Is that the one where they do episodes on the Longbow, Shield, Armor and the like?  If so, yeah it's a great series.  Not sure it's worth almost $70 though.

Edit: Oh wow there's 15 episodes?  Dang they've only played 3 or 4 that I've seen on this side of the pond.  That does seem like a good deal for that many episodes Hairpie.

I saw the one about the Battle of Hastings and what happened afterwards.

Those Normans were BRUTAL!  The Tapestry even documents thier attrocities and I've actually seen that, but ignored the pictures of soldiers implaing babies on the ends of their swords etc.

Amazing series.

Its 960 minutes, so 16 hours worth.

I have only seen a couple of them, it just seems a really good set to have.

Furball, if you like the DVD's you should read the books they're based on...

Simon Schama's "A History of Britain."  It's a three volume set, first one convers the early days, Rome, the dark ages, onward, etc...  Not sure of its sub-name (lost the book jacket)

2nd one is "The Wars of the British - 1603-1776"

3rd one is "The Fate of Empire 1776-2000"

I know, it's not as interesting as the TV series, but there's a lot of cool information in there...  Particularly about the Roman Invasion/Conquest and Churchill.

As per your question though, I'd consider buying it myself...  You can't really go wrong for that much bang for 35 quid.

You're thinking of "The Weapons that Made Britain" or something of the like with that crazy-nasty-bad-arse sword/shield/pike/you-name-it-he'll-kill-you-with-it fellow.  Also a pretty decent series.
