What study? There was no reference listed. No study quoted so that the result could be confirmed. No error factor or information regarding the mechanics of the study and the size of the study group. Simply alleging a study found something isn't any kind of verification of a statement without having the study listed so that it could be shown to be a valid study or if one was even done.

Old saw: there are 3 kinds of liars. Liars, damnded liars and statisticians.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

They were playing a TV  commercial in Iraq before the election, it showed American troops and tanks going down a road and the tag line was " You vote, they leave."

So how wrong was Bill Mahr?

so the only reason the iraqis voted was because one commercial said that if they voted the mean old Americans would leave?

Are you sure that is what your wife told you?

I actually watch Bill Maher's show on HBO.  I think it is somewhat informative and a funny.

I don't agree with probably 80% of his guests.  In fact most of his guest's make my skin crawl (moore, tim robbins, ect) but the other night he managed to get robin williams.  It was great because finally he had somone on the show that was funny but yet had a very common sensical approach to things....not nescesarily left or right.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak - sure to win his own country's much-less-democratic vote later this year - telephoned Allawi to congratulate him on the smooth election, saying he hoped it would "open the way for the restoration of calm and stability" in Iraq.

Iraq's elections are a "good omen for getting rid of dictatorship," said Yemeni political science student Fathi al-Uraiqi.

"Now I feel that Saddam is really gone," said Fatima Ibrahim, smiling as she headed home after voting in Irbil. She was 14 and a bride of just three months when her husband, father and brother were rounded up in a campaign of ethnic cleansing under Saddam. None have ever been found.

ASKAN, Iraq (AP) - In the "triangle of death," where voting is a life-threatening experience, Karfia Abbasi held up her ink-stained finger, elated that for the first time she has been able to cast a ballot for someone besides Saddam Hussein.

"This is democracy," Abbasi said. "This is the first day I feel freedom."

My apologies...I was wrong... Bill Maher is 100% dead bang right... none of the above quotes, taken from news stories about the Iraqi election holds water.  No Iraqi stuck a stained finger in the collective eye of the insurgency.

You know, while I'm nowhere near liberal, I used to listen to Rush when he was funny (late 80's when he had a Compuserve forum). Then, after Bush Sr. invited him to the White House for a sleep over in the Lincoln bedroom, well he just got whinney and annoying (IMO)
