just how hopless can some of the guns get in this game..sorry for the rant but im pig sick of it..
1, hurr2D what is the point of these guns? i attacked a formation of b17( i only use the 40mm.303dumped on take off) saw at least 10 hits on the formation and nothing happened...
2 similar story with the typhoon.. this plane seems to have been gelded since last patch..
3, 50 cals are still useless against ack.. and yet seem to be more potent against any other target over cannons..

there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how the guns perform.

anyone at HTC please post some sort of stats on gun performance please please please...

please no hyjacking or theoretical answers..

What should have happened? Those 40mm shells went right through the plane. They aren't HE, they are AP.

The point of the gun is to punch holes in tanks.

The .303 is used for aiming the 40mm. And no, they are not for use against aircraft - well, maybe parked aircraft.

I don't know about the Typhoon being Gelded, but I would figure that all the Hispano planes would have been effected equally by any change.

As far as the .50s go (and I know this is a forbidden "hypothetical" answer.. sorry) I think that the blast damage from the cannon shells makes it easier for you to hit the Acks, than the kinetic damage from the .50s (that is to say, a near-miss with the cannons can be effective, while the .50 has to actually make physical contact). Same with Troops. Try using the Il-2 guns to take out ack, they should have similar results to .50s (given their AP rounds).

Actually the problem with using .50 cal to shoot ack is you have to HIT it.  With the 20mm cannon shells you just have to get close.

Took out several A/A Guns with the 6 x 50 cals on my HELLCAT last night and didn't seem to have a problem. Quick spirt and they are history.

FYI: Rockets work MUCH better in taking out flak guns.

Indeed 20mm will do alot more damage than .50's or .30's

Like said before, you must make .30's and .50 direct contact, same with all other ap rounds.

Also if you have your 6 .50's evenly spread out there is a higher chance of the aaa sucking up all the ammo spat at it by at least "1" or more of the 6 guns.

if you aim dead on a sbd with its x2 .50's can take out aaa in one short good pass.
heck i have killed aaa with the one .30 in the bottem gunner of the tbm while flying away.

im surprised how quickly aaa dies if your ammo hits it dead on, heck a pilots .45 can take out aaa guns with half the ammo supplyed to your pilot.

iv used the Hurr-d for pure air to air and bomber intercept before just for fun

ever fighter i hit ether lost there hole rearend or a wing or just exploded when hit with a single round of 40mm

with bombers 1 hit in could take down a bomber tho its hard to say because i did not fly the Hurr-d in this role alot and it was rare to setup on a bomber form and get a hit with the 40mm

at the most it would only take a couple of arounds in the right spot before the bomber loses something big like a wing

well thats what iv seen when using the Hurr-d in a air to air role

I've got a little film of me taking out 2 tanks with the 40's and 1 Spit5 with the .303's!

There is nothing wrong with the IID if you attack GV's in it. Its actually been improved since the AHI varient.

I loved using the D on the tanks with a pal "spotting" them in a Panzer.


As for attacking aircraft, don't aim for the structure with those 40mils, aim for the engine.
