What planes are you seeing?
« on: February 22, 2001, 01:38:00 PM »
Was looking through my stats and noticed I still haven't managed to kill a 202.  I've seen a few of them but I seldomely am in the position to dedicate the time to bring my cannons on the zippy little cusses.

So far, in tour 13:

Less than 2 engagements:
C.202 (0)
109G2 (0)
LA5FN (1)
C.205 (1)
Yak-9 (1)
109F4 (1)
190A5 (1)

5 or less (excluding above):
109G6 (3)
47D25 (3)
Tiffy (3)
190A8 (4)
109G10(5)

10 or less (excluding above):
SpitV (6)
F6F-5 (6)
A6M5b (7)
P38-L (7)
SeaFr (9)
P-51D (10)

20 or less (exlcuding above):
47D30 (12)
Spit9 (14)
Nikie (14)
F4u-D (15)
F4u-C (20)

I pretty much just fly around looking for fights these days.  Mostly I avoid any capture attempt that has more than 30 of my countrymates there.  I look for slightly more even fights and people trying to sneak towards bases for whatever reason.

I find that if I stay away from CVs... F4u-1C engagements go way down.  I also find that if I'm not over an enemy field at 5k, N1K engagements go way down.  Strange.

Without checking stats I would have to say Ive seen alot more 109s, 190s and P51Ds then in previous tours.

A lot fewer spits and about the same number of Yaks, LA5s, nikks and chogs.

Hardly ever see the noodle machines.

I see most everything but the ones I see the least (off the top of my head) are the:

P-47D-25
202's
109G-2's
Zero's (Although I've seen more latly)
109F-4's
F6F's (For some reason. The F6F isn't as big in here as it was in AW I don't think.)

I'm recalling from recent memory:

Attacked a field: All N1K's and Spits.

Attacked a CV: Mostly F4U's a few F6F's and a spattering of Spits.

Attacked a HQ: 109G10's and P51D's.

Furballed at Furball island: A mixture of everything, including vehicles.

Edit: I forgot the P51's.

Ssshhhh that's because these are the most deadly planes in the right hands. Now you don't tell nobody, k? ;-)

Interestingly enough, the most planes I've killed this tour are 11 Seafires, 11P51Ds, 10 F4U-1Ds, 7 205s, and 6 A6m5bs. The rest are 5 or below... while killing ONLY 4 F4U-1Cs.

I'm with Kieren on his statement.. I sometimes wonder what game everyone else is playing when I've got figures like these in my stats? I must be playing AH is some parrallel universe...

ps: I've got 27kills to 3 deaths in the P47D-25 this tour.. all A2A kills. ;-) Last tour I got 29 kills in the 109G2 with only 5 deaths.

Today it's mostly 190's and 109's.  Not to make the anti-F4 contingent upset but i've been on for over an hour and NOT ONE

Only ones not in the MA are the whiners......and they aren't missed.

I concur with the observations here.

When attacking a field, the chances of seeing a N1k or Spit are so high its almost guaranteed. When attacking a CV or when CV is attacking a field, the amount of CHOGS are overwhelming with a few F6's and seafires thrown in.

HQ defense I see 109 g10's (climb rate and cannons.. cant beat that!).

In missions I see a lot of F4U-D's, FW190's and P-38's (38's seem to be a recent fad of which im very happy).

205's and 202's I see sporadically, almost always flown by the Stormo Caccia guys.

One plane I have seen a lot of lately is the La-5. Pissy little crate to have on your 6 I tell ya.

Totally agree with everyone on this one.  Lots of different stuff out there right now, and people appear to sometime pick mission specific aircraft to boot (seen lots of P-47s coming in to attack bases).

And people figure that the perk incentive thing hasn't changed things

I think we should start a thread "Pyro, I'm confused with all these different planes, please disable some to make my life simpler"

Exactly. Thats what I have been asking. Who cares if the 1c has 15000 kills. It is not filling the skys at all. And the quality of the guys that fly it is on average even lower then ever. The MA is more diverse then I have ever seen it. I personaly think that is valuble.

It depends on what time of day. I see more of one type during AM hours US time than I do during prime time. I also see a lot of trends. I'll go for a day and only see a couple types, some days a big mix. Some I meet up with always fly a/c I consider "easy to kill with"(N1k's, spits, zero's and 1C's you never catch them in a/c that requires anything more than T&B and HO), some fly all types and some only fly one type. It all depends on who's logged on and what mood their in I think.

I know for me I fly the 109F-4 predominantly and then mission specific AC. If there are tanks otw to a base I grab an F4U. If the HQ is getting attacked I grab a G10. If I want a fighter/bomber I grab a P-38. I don't fly the bombers much but I'll grab whatever I think will do the job the best. It seems to me there are a lot of people that fly this way. They have one AC they fly most of the time but they will grab what they need for the job generally.
