I think
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Sounds about right. Looks just like AA positions I played on as a kid visiting the Yorktown. Was always amazed how quick you could get those things turning with just those little hand cranks.

Yup. 1 Grandfather that was Navy, other was USAF. Been on quite a few neat ships in Charleston. Yorktown, Laffey, and the rest of the ships moored at the musuem. Also been on the Trump, Battleaxe, Chiddingfold and a few others. Even saw a 688 surfacing about 150 yards from the harbour tour boat we were on. I was too young to really appreciate it at the time though.

Once had a soccer trip (after moving to Florida) to play SC's state champs, and our team stayed on the Yorktown. Man those bunks were small. Had a few incidents where a fights almost broke out between us and the boy scout troops. One of our guys had cornered 3 of them (who were all bigger than him) on the flight deck and was threatening to throw them off. I'm not sure we were welcome back.

ahh the good ol' days :)

I've lived in Charleston most my life. I lived on the south (harbour) end of Sullivans Island when I was 5-6. Used to sit out back and watch the subs come in 2-3 times a week. Was a pretty awesome sight.

What part of town did ya live in? I've lived in Summerville, Moncks Corner, Goose Creek, West Ashley, Sullivans Island, Mt Pleasant, downtown, James Island, Johns Island and Folly Beach.

Currently live about 3 miles from Nortwoods Mall in N Chas.

James Island. The bulk of my family is still there. Been there for several generations. My little branch (starting with my parents) were the first & only to move out. My mom worked for the wildlife department for years too. My dad & I still discuss taking a camping trip to Botany Bay Island :)

Lived at Stono Marina for about a year too. Went to Murray LaSainne(sp?, that school's gone way downhill), FJ middle, JIH.

Sorry for the hijack Brady:)

LakeSide was the little townhouse community. But the neighborhood had a different name. It's buggin the hell outta me now:mad:
