The 110 would win.  The nasty cannon package plus the extreme low end acceleration and the nasty amount of lift.

I can judge all I want Bullz.

You stick the same skill level pilot in each plane and the A20 WILL GET DESTROYED (not counting lucky shots and the like).

Most people flying the 110 don't know how to fly it.  It can almost keep up with a P38L.

Flying the A20 as a fighter is one of the more gamey aspects of the game.  Fortunately, as pointed out, A20s are meat on the table if you know how to fight them so I like it when people try to take on a fighter I'm flying.  Can't recall ever being killed by one in a dogfight though...

If you realy wish to see the a20 out turn anything in the sky, hit +1 flaps at 230 mph, turn one engine on wep, and turn the other engine to like 30% to 50% then start a little climb, full rudder..and do  a J turn, very nice to see that big green beast do a 180 at 40 mph, then roar back to 250+ in a matter of 2-3 seconds with bolth engines now on wep.

and you all thought the '38 was evil.

Realy the 38 can do the same, but its rudder control is not as strong at lower speeds, such as the a20 is, the '38 will probably take a few seconds more to get the nose back down after the 180 turn.

and of course, fule % is master of all combat menuvers and flight.

Works great to ping wingtips off and cause fire, gotta be pretty quick to get out the way if b17's/24's ball turret starts shooting at you though.

I've flown the A20 as a fighter before (just for fun a while back) with another squaddie so I know how it can handle as a fighter.  I still maintain that if you have problems killing one in a fighter you only have yourself to blame...

Ah... I was probably one of the first guys to use the A-20G as a fighter when they first were introduced. I also fly the IL-2 and SBD as  fighters, and I manage to do well enough in them that the enemy had better not take these clunkers lightly.

Check my stats for tours 45, 46, and 47 and you'll see that I'm no stranger to the Havoc.

I know the A-20's strengths and its weaknesses as well as anyone.

Likewise, I give credit to anyone who can be successful flying it in the MA. Your score is excellent, by the way. I'm also glad to see more guys flying it as a fighter (mainly you and Cobia38).

I enjoy using light bombers as fighters because there is a challenge to surviving and prospering in them within the horde mentality of the MA.

Having said all of that, the A-20 is still quite vulnerable due to its slow rate of roll, weak wings, frail control surfaces and its inability to accelerate once it's caught on the deck. A reasonably good pilot can beat the A-20 no matter who flies it. Average pilots will lose more often than they win and most new guys are utterly unprepared for what the A-20 can do.

Anyway, continue enjoying yourself and be careful with any IL-2 you find at 10k....  ;)

My regards,

Widewing

Question.... I've heard a lot of people talking about lucky shots. I know the 1 ping pilot kill/engine kill bit.... but what's a lucky shot? Seems like If someone pulls the trigger and you get hit then it ain't luck? Or is it that they just spray and pray?
