I have a problem with my framerate, whenever someone shoots at me or I shoot my fps drops from 70 to like 0.5. The problem gets severe when im flying on a bomber, as it could take as much as 5 secs to unfreeze, which by then either the con is dead or i am.

Go back into dxdiag and try turning your sound acceleration down one notch.

Update the sound card drivers (www,creativelabs.com)
Downgrade the video card drivers to 61.77 (http://www.nvidia.com)

Set the maximum texture size, in the game, to 512 or less and turn on the "preload textures to system memory" option as well.

Check for interrupts being shared. If the above made no difference, then my guess is you have a couple of high data demand deivces sharing interrupts.

Ok, the basic premise for the problem you are having is a surge or demand for resources in your computer. Typically these go pretty much unnoticed, but when they exhibit in the manner they are for you, and it is not driver or interrupt related, it normally points to something using the CPU in the background.

Look in the task manager and check the CPU usage percentage at the bottom center of the dialog box. It should be bouncing from 0 to 2 percent at a pretty regualr interval. If it is bouncing higher than that, then you have a culprit.

Ya, your system is nearly the same as mine, you have a slight edge on me in the CPU dept and I have a SB Live! sound card instead of the SB Audigy you have. Other than that, its the same as mine. If I can run the game without a hitch, you should be able to. And if anyone can help you find the problem, Skuzzy can.

One thing I ntoiced while looking through his system specs, he's using the default display driver not the one for his monitor. While I can't see why this would cause the system to freeze, it probably won't, he may consider installing the proper monitor inf just while he's "fixing" things.

Does anyone else notice even a slight lag when you hold the trigger down (it only happens for maybe 500 ms but its really annoying)? Note that the fps climbs back to normally about 1 sec after.

Also, im using a ms sidewinder force feedback... hooked into a midi port... if thatll change anything

I have the same.

Sometimes when i squeeze the trigger the game freezes up for half a second, then everything warps and i start shooting.

No way to hit with that.

It is only on verry few occasions and only with the first round of ammo fired.
My personal guess is it loads the gun sound and the loading gets delayed since other tasks have higher priority. I usually just fire off one or two rounds of every gun just after take off, sure way to get no freeze in fight for me.

for the trigger pull game freeze, are you using an external USB hub to plug your stick into?

for me that was a HUGE culprit. i tried to put my CHPro pedals and x45 on a hub to not use up all my usb ports....

game freeze / studder whenever a button was pressed.

Everything is plugged directly into the back. The joystick is plugged into a creative midi port on the sound card.

same problem tonight ... after many hours of smooth play (not counting the savvis relay roo"warp"alator)

ran ad-aware and I had a data miner hidding and stealing info ...

All clean now (i double checked w/ hijack this, my AV scanner and ran thru the regestry ect ) time to retest muhahahahaa.
