Luftwaffe Profiles.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any kind of LW profiles they'd like to see done.  I'm interested in 109G series profiles at the moment.  I've got a book coming in that will help me out some but is there anything particular you'd like to see?

I plan on hitting the E and F series birds right after the G series.  Hopefully HTC will take out the spiral spinner scheme and have it available as an option.  I know some of the profiles I'm looking at doing either don't have this or they have it in a different set of colors.

Jester would like JG2 skins I know.    Let me know if you're going to do one; I haven't dome any LW yet so I expect it'll be slow going for a while...and I have one more early P-38 to take care of before I can start one.

The default F-4 is JG 2, I did a another JG 2 F-4. There's a JG 2 A-5 done by Kweassa, I did a JG 2 D-9. These are all in game now. My skins would be under 'Batz'.

I also did Helmut Wick's E-4 for the last BoB event. I also have an A-8 3/4s done but there are issues with the texture map on the 190s and I was waiting until the 190s were re-done. I doubt I will finish them or submit them because I don't have AH installed but there are more JG 2 skins then any other LW skin in AH2.

These were done for the real JG 2 not you squatters that moved in and took the name... :p

Hell even the avatar you guys use was snagged from the nose art I made for Lazerus...

I doubt the 109s will get updated any time soon. They went through a serious modifications while AH2 was still in Beta. They are probably last on the list.

There should be plenty of profiles on the web of 109s. Not all will be accurate but there's should be a few that you can find...

I've got 9 half way decent profiles for the G-10.  I've got a bunch for the G6 and G2. I've also got a handful here and there for the E-4 and F-4.

I'm really curious as to what particular skins folks would prefer I guess.  I prefer ones that are out of the norm and ones that mean something.

Didn't Marseilles F-4 "Yellow 14" have a tan tail with yellow kill markings?  I'm seeing differences in the skins done already in comparison to other profiles I've found on the same airframes.

Seems like you'd want to give folks the option for all the different theaters the 109 operated in.

West and East Front, MTO, Defence of the Reich etc.

Then start spreading them between the famous units in those theater of operations

Do you have "Luftwaffe Fighter Aircraft in Profile" by Sundin and Burgstrom?

If not, I can get the scanner going.  Lots of great stuff in that book

Guppy unfortunately no I don't.  I'm starting to work on my collection of Luftwaffe books now.  I've mostly got walk arounds on the P-51, P-40, Spitfires and a few odds and ends.  I just picked up a book on WWII Aces and some 109 books.  I got one 109 book for Africa and one on Europe.  And I picked up a 110 Aces book with profiles plus another Luftwaffe book.

I'll see if I can't get that book on order.  Still waiting for another book for 109s that is on order.

This image below is one of the profiles from the book I mentioned.  It has the unit, in this case 2/JG300, pilot's name, time it was flown, where it was based etc.

If this stuff helps, I can scan others from the book.  Lots of 109s in it

Bottom profile is one I did of an E7.  I've been trying to get close to the quality of the stuff those guys did in that book.  Not there yet, but I'm getting closer :)

A good portion of the profiles on that site are not accurate. They are just collected from around the web, most with out permission of the creator, and warehoused on that site. There's usually no source listed either.

Most of them can be found else where. There's a lot of LW Profiles to be found on the web. The problem is varifying their accurracy.

Here's a link to several forums where you can get 'expert' help when trying to verify the accurracy of certain profiles:

TOCH

Air Warfare Forum

LEMB

WWII Air War over the North

Warbirds Information Exchange

Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums

109 Lair Board

Luftwaffe Bulletin Board (mostly german language)

Thanks all for the links and profiles.  I found the Wings Palette site awhile back.  I didn't know how many of those profiles were historical though.  Mainly the ones I grabbed for reference were the ones that actually had a time frame, pilot, and squadron listed on them.

Nice profile btw Guppy.  Probably 20 times better than I could ever do.

For plates that have been published in books are they accurate enough for use or should I still have someone on one of these sites check them out?

Almost all will be interpretations of mostly black and white photos and / or pilot accounts. Add in artistic license and you may find variations of the same aircraft done by different artist.

Check this thread form AWN:

Another batch of late-war JG 5 Bf 109Gs

I think Ehrler's G-6 (Stab./JG 5; W. Nr. 411978) would make a good skin for AH.

It has the correct canopy for the AH2 G-6 but it has the tailer tail. The AH2 G-6 may almost be passed off as a G-14 so the options are wide open in terms of variety.

Any of 7./JG 53's G-6s with their unique individual pilot emblems would be different.

Here's a link to 3 profiles doen by Il2 Skinner Cpt. Farrel:

Cpt Farrel' Profiles

These are early G-6 with the old canopy though...

Wotan I kind of figured that the majority of the plates wouldn't be exactly historical.  I'm looking at doing G-10 Yellow 9, G-10 Flown by Hartmann (350th victory), and quite a few other E-4/F-4/G-2/G-6 variants.

I'm curious but would they allow a G-14 skin on the G-6?  I know they are pretty strict about that stuff.  If they will then I'll definately look at doing Ehrlers blue 11.

I've also got some others I'd like to do but the current setup of the spinner painting makes them impossible.  I've got a ton of 190 profiles I'd like to do also.

I never asked you why "Batz"

I guess it's not related to the place where I've been in vacation when I was young :D
