gawd, i don't know, but i got the impression that they were representative of the slavic peoples. never struck me as the trade federation type...
i think the worst part was trying to cram all of the new stuff into a short period of time...no time for character developement.
in george's defense though, he was trying very hard to keep a tight lip on it all...IIRC the cast only got snippets of the script shortly before each scene so it would explain the terrible acting.
that and our expectations were so huge that nothing could have topped them.
saw the original at a big screen theater in omaha when i was six. i didnt want to go but my dad told me it would be great. still remember that feeling when the star destroyer came rolling in. sent chills up my spine. must have went and watched it 30 times that summer. ahhhh...to be young and impressionable again...
best case scenario...this one rocks! then the rights are sold and other directors get a shot at working with the original model which was brilliant.
a beautiful world he has created. would be a shame to see it go away.
