The difference between our Thunderbolts?
« on: March 14, 2005, 06:02:58 AM »
This question might've been asked before, but here it is again:

What, exactly, is the difference between our P-47's?

I know the D-11 turns better while the D-40 is faster (stronger engine)
But what more differences (except payload) are there?

Canopy is the big difference. Visibility means alot, you can't hit what you can't see. The P47D-40 as the bubble canopy.

Also, the D11 has much less range and only one dt.  The 25 & 40 both have a tremendous range for the MA.  I also thought the D11 climbs and accelerates slower but I could be wrong.

You'd have to get some of the 56th in here to tell you more.

I see I see, thanks guys. I fly the P-47 very often (when I do fly) but always wondered why there are 3 versions: all have 8 guns, and look pretty much the same (except D-11)

I hear the d25 is actually the pig of the litter....  Worst power, and worst handling.. but I could be wrong.  I fly it for the bubble canopy and the fricken sweet skins  =)

Not from where I sit ... I prefer the D-25 over the other 2.

Somehow I do too, though I don't know why...maybe because it's got a better camo over the D-40? No idea though..

The D40 is uglier than the D25 which is even more ugly than the D11.

i like the p47s , but unfortunatly it dosn't have a roll in AH...if war was fought like AH, p47s would be 3rd line aircraft.. same gos for a lot of very good aircraft in AH...

skins are exceptionally good for the p47s..:aok

Much like the F4U series and the -1, the D-11 is actually the faster better handling  of the three and unless you are dropping bombs it pwns the other two. I dont have any trouble with the canopy in the D-11.

I guess we at the 56th are simply delusional about the idea we can fly these oversized dinosours and actually land anything other than our pride in ditches..........:D

The difference?  The D11 will allow you to get 1 more kill before you die.  The point being you're gonna die regardless.

MMMmmm hers my opinion

d11-
Positive: Fastest p47, Turns best.
Negative: Stupid canopy, range, Climb is horrible, acceleration is poor

d25-
Overview: it's a d40 without as good of wep.  Although people will say it handles better than d40 i think it's mostly in their minds. ANd improved range over d11.

d40-
Positive- Good visability, best acceleration (with wep), best climb (with wep),  Dive flaps, improved range over d11, best ordinance package.
Negative: not as fast as d11 or as agile.
