Are trees stopping bombs?
« on: March 22, 2005, 05:56:01 AM »
I just had a fun time trying to kill a panzer sitting under some trees.  I noticed that my bombs were leaving craters on the tops of the trees.  After four 500lb a one 1800kg bomb I just spawned a tiger and killed him.  I know those bombs were landing close so were the tree tops preventing the blast from reaching the ground?  And since when can branches stop a 3800lb bomb.

Got an answer...armored leafs... 200mm rolled steel, 45deg angle.

Or not...who knows....was funny to watch the "Fat Boy" leave a crater on the top of the tree.

Yes, this is how it works.  Sounds like it is being looked into for 2.3 and a fix will probably come soon.  Its a good thing, I hear the squirrels are getting pissed  :D

As an avid squirrel, i agree that this is unrealistic and should be fixed. Maybe it would then be fair to give the tank a larger fly swatter. Or remove the enemy tank icon visibility for aircraft.

As a squirrel lover I suggest HT designates a small section of the map with indestructible trees as a squirrel reservation.
Also, the 1800kg bombs should be banned as the loud sound they produce disturbes eagles nestings and the gases contrinbute to global warming.

Why can't we all just get along ?

I don't... talk about people complaining about the 'killshooter' problem when using rockets against friendly tanks, I can almost hear it now.

If this was a scenario and you could differentiate between the tanks by nationality, yes. However, it won't work in the MA without some type of 'friendly' or 'enemy' icon.

if nothing else, GV icons should be visible the same distance as an aircraft!

if you look at it now when your in a tank you can see friendly tank's icon but not enemy. SHould be the same from the air.

Personally, I think all enemy icons should be turned off.  Having enemy shown on radar is ok but no icons for enemy, GV or plane.

U should be able to tell what plane it is as soon as u get with 1000 yrds.  Same with gv, espescially if it a flak or m16 as more then likely they will shot back before u get with 2000 yrds.

So you want to be able to shoot through trees now too?

How many trees?

How much energy is to be taken out of the round once it passes through one tree?

Two?

Wheres the charts on this? Any info gathered at ALL on this? I'm sure there MIGHT be something but I bet in no way is there enough for HT to want to code that BS in.... Could be wrong.

Then how will its trajectory be affected by passing through a tree?

What will its effects be on the armor of the enemy tank you hit; IF you even hit it, be? Will the round just start going end over end once it passes through a tree and keyhole into the side of the tank? How would you know? How could you know? (starting to get the point here?)

You GVr's can't stand a little challenge?

I hardly ever get into a tank. But when I do, I can shoot between trees and hit a tank off in the distance. If I can do that, anyone can.
