THis is why the debate has raged for years about the NMF 361st FG P51s that had camo applied to the wings and top of the fuselage. Lots of people will swear it was blue camo, but it was OD or RAF dark green. The photos can be interpreted to make it seem like it was dark blue.
This of course makes no sense, as they were camo'd on top for D-Day and the low level work they were going to be doing. Dark blue wouldn't have been much help over a green countryside
