A Challenge... For some fun
« on: March 28, 2005, 11:11:40 PM »
The other day, Shawk (of all people) comes up with this idea that, in order to make the game more interesting, those of us in our squad should try and land 2 kills in every plane (minus the heavy bombers).  This doesn't include dropping bombs on GVs.  I really thought this was a great idea, and we even made a little competition out of it, so I thought I would run it by you guys for next tour.  How long do you think it will take some of the best sticks in the game to get these kills?  =)  Might be fun to try it out.  So, if you guys are up for it... give it a try, and post here when you get it.  I don't have any prizes in mind because this is a hard thing to check, but would be neat to see who gets it first.

Would be every plane except: C47, b26, b24, b17, ju88, ki67, boston (i.e. anything you can up in a formation)

I only flew one run tonight, and I started at the top with an a20... haven't flown one in months, and never in a heavy dogfight.. man is that tough  =)  B5N is next!

It's actually been done a bunch of times....hopefully some who have will post. I know someone went thru the whole set with 2 landed kills per plane (fighter/attack) with no deaths....

Isnt a Boston just a Brit A20?  And cant you take a formation of A20's, which would invalidate it in your own rules?

Why not include everything with forward firing guns? Getting kills with the Bostons should be rather challenging, not as much as the B5N though:D

I dunno, could probably include B26 on the "to do" list...bunch of guns (6) for the pilot to shoot, and it doesn't turn that bad when light.  Can really surprise people.  Make SHawk fly tail gunner while you're furballing :)

I'm game.  April is now "2 kills in every plane month" for me.

Not a hard thing to check..first person that posts they've completed wins.  Have them post their Game ID and check it in the stats for "Kills In".  Now..lets here what ya got in mind for prizes!  :)

Make it five kills per plane without dying and you're on.  You can get two kills just by having vulchers auger near you.  Five kills, however... you'll probably have to earn some of those.

Landing 2 kills in a B5N2 is not nearly the same as landing 10 kills in your Fw190A-8.  The 2 kills, assuming they are real kills and not proxies, in the B5N2 almost certainly are harder to obtain.

Ok... well no you can't take a formation of a20s, you can only take a formation of Boston's which used to have the A20 tag.  They have 303s instead of the 50s.

Alright then, make it 5 kills.  Lets switch it up a bit.  I look forward to seeing the posts that you guys have done it  :D

Maybe the b5n isn't a good plane to have included, I forgot about the no front firing guns, lets throw that out.

What do you think now Nath, Levi?  Up for it?

A few thoughts.

First, let's hammer down the list of what we should fly.  I think the B5N does not belong on the list, nor do any planes that can only be flown in bomber mode.

Second, let the competition begin at the start of next tour.  This is only a couple of days away, but it at least gives potential competitors a chance to read this thread and decide if they want to join in the fun.  It also does not disadvantage anyone who stumbles across the thread tomorrow.  In addition, verifying the results will be much easier at the beginning of a tour than at the end of a tour.

Levi,

I agree with you 100%.  B5N is dropped, and I am going to change the requirement to not allow anything that can ONLY be flown as a bomber.  SO, new rules below.

1.  Land 5 kills in all planes with a designation other than just "bomber".  This includes all attack planes that COULD be scored as bombers (i.e. a20)  I'll post a full list when I get home tonight in this thread.

2.  Dropping bombs on or straffing GVs does not count as a kill

3.  Tallies start at the beginning of next tour on April 1st.

How's that look?
