strength of port ack
« on: March 29, 2005, 11:17:44 PM »
This is not my imagination.  The ack at ports takes much more damage than ack at fields.  Normal acks will die after one or two cannon rounds and certainly one rocket.  Acks at ports do not die to just a couple cannon rounds or one rocket.  It was hard enough to fight through the high number of densely packed acks before without getting blown to bits, now it is just frustrating.  This observation has been confirmed by many of my squad mates.  I would like it a great deal if this problem was addressed.

It could just be placebo, but like sullie said, I also feel port ack is a lot more stronger and efficient than those at the field. Perhaps its only because there's so much of them.. but whenever my squad attacks a port I give out warnings to the pilots, "becareful - port ack is murder".

I'm not sure if I want it changed though. The tension when jumping into a port to attack, is a lot higher than when going into a field to deack it.. and it's kinda fun.

I just want everything to be standard.  I want to know what it takes to kill something nomatter where it is on the map and not have to sit there wondering if I am falling victim to a bug.  When I land a rocket on the little pad the ack sits on and the ack doesn't die, that is a tad stupid.

You guys are right, it is now stronger.  It took 4 rockets and 3 20mm straffing passes to take out one gun the other day.  Tough Stuff.

guys i dont this port ack is stronger. i think the problem is  even more complex. ever since AH2 came out, havent u noticed the bombs n rockets making water splashes even on land? i think that adds to how hard ack is too kill @ ports. unless u hit right on the ack gun, ur bombs rockets or bullets get soaked up by water for no damage.

have u noticed u can be shooting at a ack say on the pier and kill something 500 yards away not even remotely  near it.  shoot and hit  VH and  kill ammo bunker or troop barracks? lol

the port graphics dont jive completely with where some thing really are.

Yes whels I have noticed that also and water absorption of ordinance may very well be the case.

It a bug with blast radius that has been fixed for next patch.

Shows up mostly on ports because those are the only objects rotated in the terrain editor.
