I would never call you stupid... I'll just call you "pooface" instead =)

I think the gist of it is that noone really knows what ToD will contain, we just know its basically a mission based combat sim.  I haven't seen much in the way of what it is really supposed to be like, however I think HiTech talked about it at the conference (which I didn't make it to).

As per the "2 weeks" reference, the first I heard of it is in the movie "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long.  It could've existed before then, and probably did, but that is the first time I heard it.

I would have to agree.  First place I heard it too.
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

As I understand it, ToD isn't actually so much as another game, but a specialized application of this game.

Imagine being able to log into an arena where you are recognized by how much experience you have within that arena, and what record of success.

An arena where you don't simply choose wherever you wish to fly from and then launch whatever aircraft you want in which you may prettythang around however you like.

As in real life, you fly structured missions, in specified aircraft, as an individual within a cogent unit, as a member of a combatant element, and are evaluated both as to your success in achieving your objectives and whether or not you/your aircraft survived and RTB'ed.

That, as I understand it, is how Aces High will perform in its ToD arenas.

A VERY rudimentary version of this concept (structured missions only) was once tried at Air Warrior and in both my opinion and that of many others was a very enjoyable way to play the game.

YMMV ;)

HTCs vision for AH2 is to offer "two games in one" Aces High 2: Classic (what we have now) and Aces High 2: Tour of Duty.

Tour of Duty will be more of a "WW2 Online" then a "Aces High".
(Note that Im using quotes alot now so dont go into waah that game woooh bla bla bla.)

In ToD you will play a pilot through his career with either axis or allies in historical settings. Game play is mission based. HQ (Server) generates missions and counter missions for the enemy (to ensure action). Mission success is what is determinal to success and not kills.

First tour will be 8th AF vs Luftwaffe.

More can be read in an interview over at simhq.com
