Training and the Trainers
« on: April 01, 2005, 11:05:43 AM »
Howdy.  While posting in another thread I had an idea that I think would help anyone interested in training.  Anytime you have your thoughts in order and on paper, you tend to be more organized and efficient.  For this reason, I'm going to be creating the following:

MS Word or .pdf checklist for trainers.  Sort of like a lesson plan, except it gives things to them in the exact order they would use it on a flight.
Engine startup, basic taxiing and takeoff.
Cleaning up the airplane
Maneuvering
Landing
Once someone has figured these things out, cards for Rocketry, bombing, shooting and strafing
Carrier landings
Formation flying (I teach this because inveitably it helps with dogfighting, as dogfighting is a very rigorous formation flight)
Basic ACM (Immelman, Split-S, Turns)
Advanced ACM (Yo-Yo, Scissors, Rolling Scissors)

If anyone here has any tips, hints or suggestions please post them and I will try to incorporate the best/easiest/most effective ones into the cards in hopes of at least teaching from a standardized base of information.

It's been covered off and on in the past. Last one I remember is JB73's at: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125023
I also believe some squads have similar things on their homepages.

I'm not sure if there is a dedicated schedule, but I'd like to volunteer to help out training new people.

There is an official group of trainers listed as members of the 'Aces High 2 Trainer Corp' in the TA.
However, anyone can goto the TA and help others. Usually most new guys are Bishop at the entry field A1. There are usually folk asking, answering, and just helping each other out in general.
Just be sure to follow the TA rules as posted on the MOTD.

Would be great to have ya in there CPorky. I've run into you a few times in the MA and you really know your stuff:) Biggest thing in there is patience. Most questions feilded in there aren't so much combat oriented as simply "how do I land?" or "how do I type in green?" Once they get the basics down though, they will greatly benefit from your ablilties!
