anyone else sick and tired of the media's coverage of the "holy father" and his impending death?

The news channels ( CNN, Fox, you name it) have been filling in the "coverage" with a bunch of lame BS for the past 12 hours. They just can't be left out on this "event"

Funny to me.

The press alone outnumbered the Schiavo protesters by at least three to one. None of the cameras stepped back and shot the entire gamely throng for fear of exposing the urgent "national discourse" for what it was.

Deja-vu of an Iraq statue toppling.

The Pope, on the other hand, has tremendous box office drawing power. Has had it for a good run. And probably more deservingly so than some vegetable in Florida. Yet, you squeek about that.

How much coverage did we get of Princess Di? She was nothing more than somebody's ex-wife. I think the Pope has earned his airtime with the jackals. On a scale of 1 to 10, he scores a 8.5 on the Papalcymeter. Not to mention he was the leader of over 2 Billion people.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Media coverage is lame BS. They have had zero word of the pope's condition for at least 13 hours, yet they ramble on with 24/7 coverage about nothing.

Everyone knows he is dying. The news coverage is not reporting anything we don't already know. The news is just staying on the subject and regurgitating the same crap for about 13 hours.

It's not like John Lennon is dying afterall.

Well Nuke, I guess what I was trying to say was that the Pope's death, however boring it is to me, is far and away much more newsworthy than any of a multitude of things that gets planted on our radar here.

Usually, what happens is....  Somebody will pick some little graf from some BS little story from the Kansas City Watchtowerwhatever.

Folks here read the snippet, then proceed to go bat****.

Then, a few days later, the rest of the story comes out, and the thread quietly goes away.

I aint much of a fan of these kinds of threads.... But if we can pay Schiavo our dues, we can sure as hell pay JP his.

You are dissin' the press for their coverage of it. Which is fine. But nevermind the multitudes upon kajillions of people who actually care about this story... You want to ignore the press' overhyping of almost everything else and choose to nail them to the proverbial cross over this one?
