Though at the same time I hate the other arrogant group who wount shut up on Range Vox. For chatting with firends there is a custom Vox channel. USE IT.

Cluttering Range with BS is equaly useless as players who wount say a word.

Lol  Tex , my computer is in an alcove in the TV room.  I have to wait until everyones gone to bed before I can use vox, otherwise the kids look at me like I'm some kind of fruitcake, talking into the computer.   :)  Wife just looks at me like I'm some kind of fruitcake anyway. - vox or no vox.

As far as the potty mouthed pinheads there isn't much that can be done about that. If HT or one of his crew are online and they hear it then they can deal with it as they see fit. I sure don't want to have to have someone on line all the time to be our mommy telling us to watch our language.

CJ ,

I really don't care if HT can hear them and ban them after they just tought my kids some new words.  There are serten times - very few - that I would like to have range off.

As far as workable alternatives, this change is probably the easyest thing ever asked from HT to coad.  Why not work on something people want?

What I don't get is that this is one of many threads about it and HD has not commented on it.  A yes, no from him would end this threads.

And let's not forget to say all those important realism and immersion things twice on range vox.

I don't tune to some other vox channel at the same time I use range vox.  So, if I don't want to hear any vox, I turn the vox volume down.  There is a slider bar in the voice settings.  I think the sequence is esc->settings->voice and there is the slider bar.  Was the idea to have the range vox off but leave the tuned channel vox on?  Seems if you are going to listen to music while flying you would not want any voice, but then I don't listen to music while flying.  I would think range vox could be a channel on vox that can be tuned to or turned off.  But then if you only have one channel at a time for vox, why not just turn down the voice volume?

Malta

Thats funny :rofl

No, really.  I do not use range VOX unless i absolutely have to.  I mostly use the private VOX.  Though the option to SQUELCH range would be a valid sugjestion for HTC to consider.  I ususally have a head set on (Mic and Phones combo) so no one can hear buy me so to me It really doesnt matter.  Though I will say that I have heard some really young sounding voices on it (perhaps 6-8 years old) and they do not need to hear the fowl language.

Heh, yes...please!  Last night I was upping a P38G and apparently 2,000 feet below me, headed the same direction, two guys were arguing that Ford engines are dog-gone better than Chevy's ANYDAY.  What was funny, one had a thick southern accent, the other a British one.  :rofl

You know.. if you quit flying in the HORDE, there are no annoying clowns on range channel.

Get with your squad and fly to the enemy where the rest of your country isn't fighting them.

Here is an example.  I log in last night, take off, no one in the room, 2 mins into it, my 5 year old daughter shows up, 2 secs later JB73 desides that someone was using him as bait and starts talking in French.  I don't  want him or anyone else to stop or change they way they talk.  I just want to have the choice of when to hear it and when not.  If I could turn range on and off at will, I would have had it off while the kids are awake.  If not, then it would be my fault/responcibility.

A toggle for range that we could bind in keymapping would be fantastic. Range channel is increasingly filled with garbage during peak hours, and its driving me nuts. Being able to hit a combo of keys and mute range while keeping squad channel open would be a godsend, certainly far better than having to manually squelch a dozen people every time radio traffic picks up.

anyhow, just my $.02.

Sorry dedalos, but you don't make 1 single valid point in there. I also noticed the text filter dinked you. Whining about permasquelch for profanity while using profanities doesn't cut the mustard with me.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was a 'permasquelch' thread. I had thought permanently squelching certain players for offensive chatter and turning range comms off were 2 separate things.

I'll also grant that when I wrote that, there were only a few. Now, I can't hear what's going on half the time, because there's some assinine barrage of random info filling the radio.

Again, its not due to offensive speech, or my desire to have players permanently squelched. But when I can't hear a word of squad channel, or get relevant info from range, its serving no purpose for me. Granted, there are times when range is very useful, and other players (and even a few squads) who use range effectively. On those occasions I want range on. For the rest of the times when its nothing but noise, I'd like to turn it off.
