Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator" comes to mind. Maybe he wanted privacy?

Speaking from experience, its not that difficult to open elevator doors from the inside.  Its the outside doors that are a pain, if you are on the outside of the elevator.  Also, if it had power to it, the emergency phone should have been working, why didnt he just call for help?  And if he didnt call for help, how the heck did they know there was someone stuck in it?

Unless he thought he'd have to pay the workers who came to get him out, then he'd probably stay in there forever.

I used to deliver pizza as a side job...got stuck inbetween the 5th and 6th floor of a condo building..was there for 3 hours...tried to get the doors open but would only open about 6inches...which of course was enough so I could piss down the shaft after that large soda I drank earlier desided to pass on through.

6 inches is enough to get your hand in between the doors and reach the release switch on the outside of the cab.

Not in some elevators. I was once on the way to a braves game to meet some friends. Got stuck in an elevator at a MARTA station parking deck.
I couldnt get the doors open for nothing. Was in there for about 2 hours. I would have fired my pistol to try to alert someone I was there. This was after an hour and a half, except I didnt have it on me since I was going to a Braves game and they wernt allowed.
I tired to use the phone but it didnt work. At the time my cell phone service was nextel and wouldnt you know...no signal. I banged on the door for awhile and yelled...no dice. I had a bottle of water with me..after I drank all of it I used the bottle to piss in. Then out of nowhere the bell rang and it took me to the ground floor. Very odd.
What is really funny is the stupid things we try to do to get out of there. I remember jumping up in the air trying to get a singal on my phone...then I tried to jump to "free" the elevator. I drop kicked the door, only after I busted my shoulder trying to ram it open. I broke the tip of my knife off trying to pry the doors. I tired to climb out though the roof like they do in hollywood. Nothing worked lol.
It would have been better for this dude if he would have gotten stuck BEFORE he delivered the food. Then he would have had somthing to eat atleast. Then again he would have just be hungry again in 30 mins.
