Fighting in the CT ?
« on: April 09, 2005, 07:15:05 PM »
I'm having some problems coming to grips with what defines good fighting in the CT.

I would like to be able to adjust my fighting style to suit to make sure that I fit in and become a good CT participant.

So please lead me down the path to enlightenment and "good fighting" I am willing to learn.

Do you like watching gladiator movies?  Linger a bit to long in locker rooms?  Get that special feeling watching wrestling?  Nothin wrong with it just sayin.  Its natural for some.  No Reason to be confused. Maybe this will help:

Only one thing matters at the end of the fight.  How do YOU feel about what you did, win or lose?

I have been reliably told that this example constitutes  cherrypicking and  "not fighting"

while this example as clearly practiced by same reliable sources must therefore qualify as "good fighting"

I thought it was pretty funny how in the 1st film the 17k NIK BnZ with his buddy and then gets killed by Redd and then whines. I mean, what arguement can you take if you're the 17k NIK? That Redd didn't fly straight? That he tried to get into some freindlies to help tackle the astro jap planes? I've never seen or heard such a goofy accusation. I've fought Redd, he knows how to fight. There aren't many better(if any) than him. I know many in the CT are JG54 guys so you'd naturally support Storch. But come on, saying something like that after having a 10k alt advantage, plus a bud to help, well that's just nutty:eek:

Fortunately I was able to chat again today with my CT mentor. I'd prefer not to use his real name , so for the sake of a good non-de-plume , let's call him "Larry"

I picked up some more important tips on CT etiquette that I will endeavour to
incorporate into my flying

-  the overmodelled Blue planes are more than capable of outurning the undermodelled white and green planes , and this should be attempted at every opportunity.

- if engaged in a 1-1 , and a fellow countryman enters the fight,  the polite thing to do is leave the fight immediately - do not fire your weapons again under any circumstances.

- In regards to gang-bangs , one should always be the bang , and never the gang.

I think I am  starting to get the idea  :)

hey my name is larry i didnt talk to u today

Heh.  Always important to remember that no one has yet been given the authority to define - for others - what "good fighting in the CT" means.

I'll bet it's accurate to say that the CT emphasizes air-to-air combat more than the MA, where there's at least an argument that winning the war is important.  Because of this, there's often a bit less emphasis on just shooting down enemas to get them out of the way, and a bit more emphasis on how you shoot them down.

I doubt there is any consensus beyond that.
