No..I dont want your F4U-1 of death not having to fly all the way home to re-arm. That is unfair.

I'm sure someone could do research on FARPs during WWII. I'd assume they'd be more of a forward operating base with limited equipment. I highly doubt that something simliar to FARPs wasn't used to some extent. I bet some of our history buffs on the Pacific theatre could give more info. That would have been the area that would have the need to use such a thing. I'm sure the MAW used them to some extent during all the island hopping.

But you can land at a vbase.  All the gas is the same in AH... I think it would be useful.  If anything put one at least for the GVs.

I like the idea of getting planes repaired without having to tower.  You know the rudder or aileron repaired as you sit in the hangar maybe a repair hangar added for the work.  Then you could fly off again and "Charlie Mike".  Have a wait time established for the type of repair you need.  Not everything being repairable either,  like NO engine replacement or oil leak etc...

Rearm pads at V-bases I'm in favor of, they are at airfields so why not.  Some ammo is common between vehicles and planes so why couldn't you land at a vbase and get some 50 cal linked or 20mm linked.

Repair idea is good too, could be another way to use perks.

Destroyable, that would be lame.  Maybe if it was tied to the hanger???

Yeah, I understand .50 cal was hard to come by at US Forward bases.
:D

Seriously though, I do understand the point. A Vehicle base might have plenty of .50 cal and .303 ammo, but they would not have new barrels for the fighters, new 20mm on up Ammo, or high octane aircraft fuel. Not to mention some of the specialized fitters tools or the fitters trained in putting the stuff in.

Pilots didn't just pull up to the pump and self-serve.

I do however sincerely appreciate the 30 second NASCAR pit-crew reloads.
