New Trees = Video lag?
« on: April 12, 2005, 01:25:24 PM »
Just tried out the new patch about 30 seconds ago. I was out and about in the TA just seeing the new stuff. Well I fly out to the mountain NE of the Rook base and notice all the trees. I say to myself "Wow thats alot of trees, finally some more scenery". Well when I head over to the hill my comp is in a massive slow down and its hard to play in that sort slow down. Well whats up with this? Anyone else getting this? And its not that I have an old comp thats barly running. I have a P4 3.0 Ghz, 1 GB Ram, a 128 ATI X800 SE. And I know people who play this game and have faaar slower computers than mine. I just think maybe the trees need to be dubed down. Anyone else have a say?

been saying that all along.  PLEASE don't choke AH w/ a ton of eye candy, and leave the stable gameplay on a back burner.  When gameplay goes, so do I....

im ok with the trees, they are not perfect but they are a heck of alot better than the last ones, as far as frame rates go, they take a tiny bit more but not enough to complain about, i have the medium view distance and near view distance mapped to my tqs throttle for when fps do act up.

elif...I had multi-coloured ones like that a while back...it was an overheat issue on my video card due to the fan not working right.

I got a PCI slot fan and mounted it under the heat sink to my vid card. Keeps it cooler that way. They cost about $19.95.

I'm getting it too. Checked the temp on my 6600 GT, and it was 55 degrees, which is fine. I suspect it's the patch, not an overheating issue.
