Well we could left it to whomever wins to decide, but I tend to do better when the choices are very limited. I must suck when fiddling with lots of options so I'd probably pick a sucky car. Perhaps some HP-Weight limit would be fair enough.

They did a nice job with those.
For ASM I'm pretty sure they are actually modelling differential braking like on most real world stability control systems.  So it keeps the car straight but slows you down some.
TCS is still a big advantage but only when using N tires or an overpowered car.

I'm putting up hotlap videos from the rest of the weeks:
Week 1 - Laguna Seca
Week 2 - Monaco
Week 3 - Ice Arena
Week 4 - Tsukuba
Week 5 - Grand Valley

I didn't always remember to save my fastest lap so the videos represent the fastest lap that I did remember to save.  They're each 10 to 20 MB.

Same setup as Funky 'cept mine had a downforce of 15 on the rear.

And what gives lads?
It's monday morning and we've got a total of 3 drivers times on the board........

Oh and standard rims.  :-)

And I think I remember spending the last few quid on a flywheel.

That was the funnest one since the Z28 at Laguna Seca, even though I whined about the tires and the car's understeer.  It didn't have enough power to overcome the low speed push but with the wing it handled nice at high speeds.  Check out on the video how loose it gets in turns 3 and 4.  Next time I'll turn on the steering wheel display - from the apex of turn 3 onwards I'm steering right even though 4 is a left turn.

Also Swoop can you give me the split times from your replay?  I'm wondering where you gained on me.
Did you ride the curbs in the tunnels?
How about my cut in turn turn 7?  :D

I made 2:16.8, not many laps and just a chip on the car.
I have a test tomorrow (get-it-right-or-lose-my-job kind of test), so no much time for GT4 these past weeks.
Well, if I fumble the test i'll have more than enough time to get better at this thing :D

I didn't save my replay, just noted down the best lap at the end of the session (read: when I got bored trying to beat myself).

Was gonna take a look at your lap but unable to download it, ya might wanna check yr link there bud.

Anyway....my lap:

Turn 1 taken with a really shreckin wide entry.  Speed at apex a shade under 60mph with a wide run off onto the left side curb, gently cross back to the right side of the track for turn 2, clip the curb for 1/2 a second to stay as far left as possible for the entry to turn 3.

Turns 3 and 4 can be taken at full power.....just.  But enough laps running wide and losing it convinced me to lift at turn 3 cos it screws up the rest of the lap.  The 2.09 time was set taking these without lifting but it was one of those lucky laps where I got it right.

Down to 45mph for turn 5, again running wide on the exit.

On turn 6 I'm braking mid way round the corner (between the apexs cos it looks double apex to me) for a sharp entry to turn 7....which is taken at full power and hard right rudder (sorry, too much SHIII) to stay as far right as possible for the slow entry to turn 8.

No, I'm not riding the curbs through the tunnel, just keep as far right as possible for the late braking into turn 9 (60mph corner).  A very quick lift to get the tyres to bite after the exit and then I'm back on the power for turn 10 to get max corner exit speed over the bridge.......and I use every inch of that little cut out section in the crash barrier.

Brake into turn 11 as you enter it, down to around 85mph.  Ride the slide round the bend until I can see the exit to stay right side ready for turn 12 (50mph), some tyre squeeling and a lift for the entry to turn 13 and the rest is easy.........

Took me around 40 laps to get the switch from turn 12 to turn 13 right in the Z4.

Turns 3 and 4 can be taken at full power.....just.
That's actually how I came up with the 30F/0R wing setup.  I lowered the rear wing until I could take 3 and 4 flat.  About 30/7 is perfect up there.  30/0 is less stable but I was faster with that setting so I stuck with it.

On turn 6 I'm braking mid way round the corner (between the apexs cos it looks double apex to me) for a sharp entry to turn 7....which is taken at full power and hard right rudder (sorry, too much SHIII) to stay as far right as possible for the slow entry to turn 8.

That's pretty close to what I was doing.  I went wide on the first apex of 6 and then fully cutting onto the concrete for the 2nd apex of 6.

No, I'm not riding the curbs through the tunnel
I meant 10 and 11.  Especially on 11, I found that there is a "power up" where you can reduce steering angle greatly when you put the inside wheels on the curb there, and ride around like on a monorail.  Gamey but entertaining.  :)

Really?  I'll have to try that.

What speed are you taking turn 11 at?

10 I am accelerating all the way through, but I'm not on the curb there in the video.  It's not as easy to exploit the curb in 10 as in 11.  In 11 I get part of the curb almost every lap, and you can hold 85-87 on the curb.
